Vijay, is a Tamil actor, born to a happily married couple S. A. Chandrasekhara and Shoba Chandrasekhara on 22nd June 1974. Happily married to Sangeetha, on August 1999 and also been blessed with a son(sanjay) and a daughter(Divya).

Personal Life

Had a sister by name Vidya who died when she was very young. Like his mother he is playback singer and has sung for many of his movies, he is good at peppy numbers. Also he is a good dancer of the all heroes of Kollywoood. He has been a Brand ambassador for Coco-Cola drinks and acted many of its commercial ads. As a responsible celebrity he involves himself in charity works and social activities. some of them are :

  • Educating 32 children every year
  • Conducted many free weddings every year
  • Issued Study materials and notebooks to poor children every year
  • Donated upto 3 lakhs for a famous shiva temple in Kaveripattinam

Film Career

Vijay's shaky career began in 1992, starring in A-rated films like Naalaya Theerpu, Sendhoorapaandi, Rasigan, Deva Vishnu Coimbatore Maappillai Maanbumigu Maanavan and Selva under the production company of his mother Shobha and direction of his father. In the flop film Once More, he had an opportunity to act with Legend of Tamil cinema Chevalier Shivaji Ganesan. He was continuing with commercial movies (can be said B-grade movies) till director Vikraman signed him for Poove Unakkaga. It was a big turning point in his career, it was huge success at box-office and even film critics also appreciated his acting skills. Which boasted top directors to sign him in their movies. After that he continued with his usual commercial films and also worked with good directors.

Notable films

  • Poove Unakkaga:

A film by Vikraman which established Vijay as a bankable star. Poove Unakkaga was a story about the feud between two friendly families - Hindus and Christians - who become enemies due to the love marriage between their children. The film did well and co-starred Sangeetha and Anju Arvind.

  • Kadhalukku Mariyadhai:

A film by Fazil, which gave Vijay a new look and one of the turning point in his career. Shalini debuted in her first Tamil film as a heroine. Kadhalukku Mariyadhai is a story of star-struck lovers, torn betwen their love for each other and for their families.

  • Kushi:

S.J. Suryah came up with another turning point for Vijay with the hit Kushi. This movie had a run of over 100 days in many theatres. Vijay paired up with Jyothika in this movie. The songs from this film were huge hits.

  • Friends:

This movie had Vijay working again with Surya after Naerukku Naer. This film is about friendship and problems coccur between them. It was a comedy entertainment with some sentimental scenes, where Devayani paired with Vijay.

  • Ghilli:

A remake of the telugu blockbuster film Okkadu, Like its original version it was a blockbuster in Tamil too. In tamil it was Directed by Dharani. The story is about a kabaddi player rescuing village belle from the claws of a don in Madurai, who is bent on marrying her. Trisha paired with Vijay for the first time. This film ran for more than 150 days in many place of Tamil Nadu, beating old Box-office records and setting new one.
