Lord custode del sigillo privato

La carica di Lord Privy Seal, o Lord Keeper of the Privy Seal (Lord del Sigillo Privato), è la quinta dei Great Officer of State del Regno Unito, dopo la carica di Lord President of the Council e prima di quella di Lord Great Chamberlain. L'incarico è uno degli incarichi tradizionali più antichi del regno. Originariamente il Lord Privy Seal era incaricato di sovrintendere al Consiglio Privato del sovrano, in opposizione al Great Seal of State, Grande Consiglio di Stato.

L'incarico era un tempo di primaria importanza, mentre oggi ha perso gran parte delle sue prerogative. Per tutto il XIV secolo la carica fu prerogativa esclusiva di vescovi.
