The International Education Center at Diablo Valley College (IEC@DVC) was established in 2000, and is located in Pleasant Hill in Contra Costa County, California. IEC@DVC has welcomed students from more than 40 countries, including China, Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Spain and France. IEC works closely with Diablo Valley College, a California community college boasting the highest transfer rate to University of California, Berkeley in the state. IEC@DVC is an International student's first step in achieving success at an American college. It is also a beneficial experience for students hoping to broaden their horizons and improve their English levels while studying abroad.

Mission
IEC@DVC is focusing on facilitating the acquisition of English for non-native speakers, preparing them both linguistically and culturally for academic studies and success at the college and/or university level.
IEC@DVC follows the above mission by:
- maximizing 15 students in each class thereby approaching to teaching English;
- arranging class activities to aid the expansion and refinement of the reading, writing, listening and speaking skills;
- improving critical thinking skills of our students;
- encouraging our students to develop and explore the places and ideas in American culture and other cultures.
- offering both academic counseling and personal support;
- providing a supportive, professional environment among faculty and administration.
Programs
IEC@DVC is one of the options for students who plan to transfer to Diablo Valley College (DVC)without other English proficiency, such as TOEFL or IELTS. More than 90 percent of IEC students will be successfully transfer to DVC as getting certificates from one of the academic programs:
Intensive English Program
In 2011, there were over 500 international students who had attended to Intensive English Program of IEC@DVC, over 85% of students successfully transferred to DVC for further studies.

Our Bridge Programs at IEC@DVC are designed to offer you the academic skills and personal confidence you need to help ensure the most successful journey on your way to earning your Bachelor degree. The pre-selected academic courses in each Bridge Program offer you the chance to earn college transferrable credits while immersed in a learning environment with other International students. By offering additional and personalized assistance, study techniques and tutoring service, IEC@DVC's Bridge Programs have quickly become one of the most popular educational tools for International students in Northern California.
