The heartagram is a trademarked symbol of Finnish rock band HIM. It is the fusion of a heart symbol and a pentagram.
According to H.I.M. front man, Ville Valo, the heartagram represents both love and death. The balance of hate and love, the two main themes in life, is a common theme in Valo's lyrics. The symbol is sported as a tattoo by many HIM fans, including professional skater and Jackass (TV series) stuntman Bam Margera, who has his own TV program (Viva la Bam on MTV2). Margera occasionaly sports the symbol as his own symbol. Fans use the heartagram to represent both HIM and Bam Margera.
It is wrongly believed by some people that the heartagram is associated with satanism, but Ville Valo denies these claims.
