KSCC, channel 36, also known as UPN Kansas, is the UPN affiliate for the Wichita area. It is owned by Clear Channel Communications, and it is licensed to Hutchinson, Kansas. The station made its debut on January 6, 2001.
At its sign-on, KSCC was owned by Paramount Stations Group (then a subsidiary of Viacom, now part of CBS Corporation as the CBS Television Stations Group), a rarity for a market of Wichita's size. In late 2001, Viacom sold the station to Mercury Broadcasting, a "front" company for Clear Channel known for owning radio stations with Clear Channel buying the station outright in 2003.
KSCC is also the sister of KSAS-TV/Wichita, Kansas and share some of the same programs.
It is not yet known whether KSCC will become an independent station or a My Network TV affiliate in September 2006, with the latter more likely being a sister to the Fox affiliate (MNTV is owned by Fox).
