Rafael Ghazaryan (in armeno Ռաֆայել Ղազարյան, January 26, 1924 - November 3, 2007, Yerevan) was an Armenian radio-physicist, academician, public activist, a member of Karabakh Committee.
Attività scientifica
Ghazaryan fu un veterano della seconda guerra mondiale. Autore di numerosi lavori di radiofisica,tecniche di uso del laser e modulazione della luce, è stato membro della Accademia Nazionale delle Scienze dell'Armenia. Fi il fondatore della cattedra di tecnica laser alla Università statale di Yerevan e al Istituto Politecnico. HIn 1988, along with other members of Karabakh Committee, he was arrested by Soviet authorities.
Attività politica
In 1989, he became the vice president of the Supreme Council (parliament) of Armenian SSR, in 1990-95 he headed the parliamentarian Committee of Science and Education. He was also the director of Engineering Center "Mashtots".[2]
In his final years, he was one of the leaders of the “Intellectual Forum” (Armenia). References
