Proposals, January 2014

I propose splitting Category:United States rail transportation stubs by state - giving each state a tag and, where there are at least 60 stubs, a category. I aslso propose that we split the country into 4 regions (as we already do for other stub category types, including the child Category:United States railway station stubs). עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 09:53, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

I see that many of the 457 pages concern railroad companies. I expect that quite a few of these crossed state lines; is the intention to apply two or more stub templates (one per state traversed) to these? --Redrose64 (talk) 11:08, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
Many of these referf to lines or companies within a single state. And anything which mainly belongs to a single state, but crosses state lines, I thinik should also be tagged for that state. Of about a dozen I sampled, only one crosses state lines. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 04:27, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

The WashingtonDC-politician-stub was proposed back in 2010 ... and these stub articles don't show up in the Category:Washington, D.C. stubs now, as if they don't exist. What happened? Djembayz (talk) 22:41, 2 February 2014 (UTC)

Please note that the cat proposed was Category:Washington DC politician stubs, not Category:WashingtonDC-politician-stub. As to what happened, the proposal was that the cat should be created at 60+ articles; but presently, {{WashingtonDC-politician-stub}} is used on 41 pages (not all are articles, either). --Redrose64 (talk) 00:14, 3 February 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for explanation. Do we repost when it gets to 60 articles? Djembayz (talk) 14:17, 6 February 2014 (UTC)
I make the current count 62 articles; so yes, I would say it's ready. --Redrose64 (talk) 15:20, 6 February 2014 (UTC)

I propose Category:United States light rail stubs/{{US-tram-stub}} (category name is per ENGVAR, based on permcatr names) - Category:Light rail in the United States has 187 articles tagged with {{tram-stub}}, as well as 128 other articles (total of 315) tagged as stubs. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 13:18, 2 February 2014 (UTC)

Propose Category:Eulimidae stubs / {{eulimidae-stub}}. Nearly 600 articles in the perm cat (Category:Eulimidae).

Also propose child category Category:Eulima stubs / {{eulima-stub}}, as this genus has over 150 stub articles. Dawynn (talk) 20:37, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

German football stub templates

Speedy proposal. German footballers stubs are split into both position and decade, but these three upmerged templates are missing.

Mentoz (talk) 21:22, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

How many pages will these be used on? How are they stubbed at the moment? I take it that the intention is to have upmerged categories like {{Germany-footy-defender-1880s-stub}}/{{Germany-footy-defender-1900s-stub}}/{{Germany-footy-midfielder-1880s-stub}}/{{Germany-footy-midfielder-1890s-stub}}/{{Germany-footy-midfielder-1900s-stub}}/{{Germany-footy-forward-1900s-stub}}. --Redrose64 (talk) 22:30, 30 January 2014 (UTC)
Of the articles that are currently stub-sorted with {{Germany-footy-defender-stub}} or {{Germany-footy-forward-stub}}, there are approx 5-8 articles that will fit in each of the proposed templates, but there are more than 900 articles that use {{Germany-footy-bio-stub}}, so I guess it can be used on some more. Yes, they are intended to work like those other templates. Mentoz (talk) 09:16, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

There is a huge Category:Ancient Roman people stubs with over 550 stubs. I propose the creation of a stub template {{Roman-gens-stub}} and its corresponding Category:Roman gentes stubs - please see this scan: 76 stubs. Regards, --Fadesga (talk) 22:31, 28 January 2014 (UTC)

No objections => category created. --Fadesga (talk) 02:38, 5 February 2014 (UTC)

Category:Arctiidae stubs is well over 3000 articles, and the permanent itself is similarly oversized. Splitting this category into subfamilies results in two oversized subfamilies. There are a few genera that could support a category of their own, but I would propose a tribe-level split to help tame these categories. Propose all of the following templates, with categories for any that pass the 60 article barrier. My intent is to also build similar tribe-level permanent categories.

I propose Category:Texas high school stubs / {{Texas-high-school-stub}} and Category:Texas school district stubs / {{Texas-school-district-stub}} to deal with the bulk of this parent category that has almost a thousand pages. EricEnfermero HOWDY! 20:59, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

  • Support 2x templates and 2x categories. A quick glance shows that there are indeed well over 900 articles, and that the majority are School Districts, with High Schools a close second. I take it that Middle Schools and Elementary Schools will remain where they are. --Redrose64 (talk) 21:47, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
  • I thought I might start with the two big ones, since the terminology in Texas gets confusing around middle school, intermediate school and junior high school - and since there are fewer of these articles. EricEnfermero HOWDY! 01:32, 16 January 2014 (UTC)

I propose Category:Prehistoric insect stubs/{{paleo-insect-stub}} - a quick scan finds 129 stubs. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 17:04, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
