Rebecca Schaeffer (November 6, 1967 - July 18, 1989) was an actress who last co-starred with Pam Dawber in "My Sister Sam," a CBS sitcom that ran from 1986 to 1988.

She was murdered by an obsessive fan who stalked her for three years through letters and attempted entry to the "My Sister Sam" set. He finally got her home address from a detective agency, who obtained her information through the California Department of Motor Vehicles. As a result, laws regarding release of personal information through the DMV were drastically changed.

To show how her career was on the rise before her death, Schaeffer was scheduled to audition for The Godfather, Part III the morning she was murdered.
