The Crispa Redmanizers was a basketball team in the Manila Industrial Commercial Athletic Association (MICAA), the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) and the Philippine Amateur Basketball League from the 1960's to the early 1990's.
Crispa had a successful stint in the amateur MICAA, winning several tournaments along the way. But, in 1975, they and eight other teams bolted out the MICAA to form the PBA, the first professional basketball league in Asia.
Crispa is famed for winning a then-PBA record 13 titles during their 10 year existence in the league from 1975-1984. They also won the coveted PBA Grandslam in 1976 and 1983.
The Redmanizers were managed by sportsman Danny Floro and was coached for many years by the legendary Virgilio "Baby" Dalupan.
Crispa's main opponent during this period was the Toyota Super Corollas which won 9 titles. Because of their success and close rivalry, they became one of the two most popular teams during that period.
Their rivalry ended when Toyota disbanded before the 1984 season started and Crispa followed suit a year later.
Crispa's noted players includes Bogs Adornado, Atoy Co, Philip Cesar, Abet Guidaben and Freddie Hubalde.
A new Crispa team quietly reemerged in the amateur leagues in the late 80s content with developing young players rather than recapturing its former glory. They won a PABL title coached by Atoy Co, and later have future PBA MVP Johnny Abarrientos on the squad before the team left basketball for good.
