"Why Not" is singer/actress Hilary Duff's debut single. It was also the main track from the The Lizzie McGuire Movie soundtrack. It was released internationally by Disney International on June 23, 2003. The CD single release included a remix of "Why Not", a remix of "I Can't Wait" and the music video.

By the middle of 2003 a different version of "Why Not" was included on Hilary's debut album Metamorphosis. In the UK, the song was released as the second single from Metamorphosis as part of a double A-side release with "Come Clean".
Video
The video first premiered on Disney Channel in June, 2003. Its premiere drew 3.2 Million viewers and it was heavily promoted by Disney. The song first broke into MTV when a viewer requested it on the popular show Total Request Live. The catchy beat and the video immediately became a massive success and it debuted on the show the next day at #6. It soon hit the 50-day mark and retired, becoming the first ever Disney video to do so.
The video shows Hilary singing from a rooftop with scenes from The Lizzie McGuire Movie accompanying it.
The video did not do well in terms of sales and managed to grasp a sale of only 760,235 which many call impressive for a video debut.
Chart history
It was a number one hit on all children Airplay Charts. It was popular on The ABC Chart where it stayed at number one for 11 weeks and also hit number one in charts such as TRL and Much!. It peaked at number 14 in Australia, 20 in the Netherlands and 15 in New Zealand and made it into the World Singles Top 100 at an impressive #21 and peaked at #7 there.
