Gijón ((Asturian, Xixón) is a coastal town in the autonomous community of Asturias in Spain. Its name comes from the Latin word Gigia. The name was originally applied to a small peninsula nowadays called Cimadevilla, literally "top of village," between two beaches, one of which is a recreational port today. The main port, one of the biggest in the north of Spain, is called "El Musel". Gijón has a population of 270,000 (2003).

The name in asturian language is "Xixón".
