Recent software changes
- The latest version of MediaWiki (1.23wmf9) was added to test wikis and MediaWiki.org on January 2. It will be enabled on non-Wikipedia wikis on January 7 and on all Wikipedia wikis on January 9 (calendar).
- The old note-taking site (Etherpad) was removed on December 30, 2013. You can see most of the documents on the new site. [1]
Problems
- On January 2, Wikimedia Commons, Wikidata and all Wikivoyage projects were broken for 2 hours due to language cache update issues.
- On the same day, it was not possible to edit most wikis for about 30 minutes, due to a database replication problem.
Future software changes
- The new search tool (CirrusSearch) will be added as the default search method for Italian Wikipedia, French Wikisource, Wikidata and all Wikivoyage sites, and as a second search method for the German Wikipedia and all Wikibooks sites on January 6. [2]
- Spanish, French, Portuguese and Russian Wikipedia users will also be able to enable CirrusSearch in their Beta Features options. [3]
- Plural form rules for some languages will be changed. Many translations of the user interface for Belarusian, Russian, Serbian, Ukrainian and other languages will need to be changed. [4] [5] [6]
- You will see a warning when you try to delete a page linked to from other pages. [7] [8]

Recent software changes
- The latest version of MediaWiki (1.23wmf11) was added to test wikis and MediaWiki.org on January 16. It will be added to non-Wikipedia wikis on January 28, and all Wikipedia wikis on January 30 (calendar).
- You can now see relatively recent results on special pages like Special:DoubleRedirects, Special:UncategorizedPages or Special:WantedCategories. They were disabled before because they were very slow. The results are now updated once a month. [29]
- As of January 16, you can make and use guided tours on the Asturian, Farsi and Russian Wikipedias. If you want this tool on your wiki, you need to translate it and ask in Bugzilla. [30] [31]

Problems
- There was a problem with search on the English and German Wikipedias between January 6 and January 14. You could not see new pages and changes in search results. [41]
- There were "pool timeouts" errors on several wikis on January 13; it was caused by a code change that was made to fix another problem. [42]
- On January 17, Bugzilla and Wikimedia Labs were broken for about 20 minutes due to network problems. IRC channels with recent changes (irc.wikimedia.org) were broken for about two hours. [43]
Future software changes
- If you have removed JavaScript in your web browser, you will soon be able to see the orange bar saying that you have new messages. If you have changed how the bar looks with a gadget, you may need to change the gadget again. [44] [45]

- Pages from Wikimedia sites now load faster in your browser thanks to "module storage", a way for your browser to save data like JavaScript and CSS on your computer to avoid downloading them again. See video. [50]
- The code used to show videos has changed. You should be able to play the video on the page, with the play button on top of the video. If you see the play button on the right of the video, or if clicking on the video leads you to the original file, please file a bug or tell User:Bawolff. [51]

- liaison perché è materia di relazioni wiki, solo che a questo proposito non so come possa essere online quella roba: "One idea for Wikipedia is to build a free encyclopedia together through the common goal of building a free encyclopedia". Ne chiedevano la traduzione, che non viene mica più sensata, e gliel'ho fatta così come si doveva. Te lo dicevo perché non mi andrebbe di andare a far casino così allo sbaraglio, magari è frutto di qualche riunione di esperti e vorrei evitare commenti sinceri :-D così se ne sapevi qualcosa... Mi dai una mano a fare una traccia in it (praticamente sostitutiva, poco che si salva) e la proponiamo in bozza?

- The Vector search box was changed to fix old display and accessibility issues; for example, you can now use full-text search even if you have disabled JavaScript. - You are now notified when someone adds a link to your user page on wikis where it didn't work before (wikis with dates in the year-month-day order, including Hungarian, Japanese, Korean and some variants of Chinese). [79]

Problems
- On February 3, all wikis were broken for about an hour due to a traffic balancing issue. [85]

Aggiornamenti tecnici:
- A gennaio il team di VE ha continuato a lavorare sulla stabilità e la performance del sistema, e ha aggiunto alcune nuove caratteristiche. Perlopiù infatti l'attenzione è stata focalizzata sulla realizzazione di alcune importanti caratteristiche maggiori, e sulla risoluzione di bug. Adesso è possibile ad esempio modificare alcune impostazioni relative alla pagina, come la possibilità di visualizzare o meno l'indice e di permettere la modifica delle singole sezioni (normalmente possibile grazie ad alcune magic words); si possono impostare manualmente le dimensioni di un'immagine (oltre a potervi applicare una didascalia); è disponibile una schermata riassuntiva delle scorciatoie da tastiera, richiamabile tramite
CTRL + /; si può sperimentare l'aggiunta e la modifica di una galleria di immagini con uno strumento al momento molto essenziale e in via di rifinitura. Si continua comunque a lavorare su una finestra di dialogo che permetta l'aggiunta veloce di note basate sui template, a ulteriori impostazioni della pagine e dei file multimediali, a importazioni relative alla lingua nella quale sono scritti i contenuti e alle lingue che si scrivono da destra a sinistra, e alla possibilità di modificare le equazioni. Il codice è stato aggiornato 4 volte. Circa una settantina i bug risolti dagli sviluppatori di VE da Natale a oggi; oltre una ventina i bug corretti dal solo team di Parsoid con un aggiornamento a inizio febbraio.

- Altre due office hour su VisualEditor: questo fine settimana ci sarà l'occasione di discutere insieme a James Forrester (Product Manager), all'interno di sessioni pubbliche su IRC ("office hours"). Ciao cara! Vado subito al punto.
Secondo me ci vorrebbe un impegno deciso degli sviluppatori verso alcune piccole migliorie, certamente meno impegnative di faraonici impianti.
Da questo lato del mondo (GettingOld), ci si chiede come sia possibile non avere una lista di PuntanoQui ordinati per namespace e in ordine alfabetico. Sarebbe poi molto utile che quando in un PuntanoQui "nascondi i link", invece di ottenere soltanto una lista di redirect, si potessero visualizzare anche le voci che "puntano qui" (misteriosamente vengono fatte scomparire in quella pagina, come se di botto non fossero più l'oggetto della ricerca).
Mentre gli editor non hanno e non devono avere priorità (in linea di principio), i dev dovrebbero avere priorità. Funzioni basiche e credo anche semplici da sistemare... Qui ci chiediamo se non è strano che queste robe (certamente per insider) vengano dimenticate, se non è strano che vengano precedute da imponenti e controverse operazioni (per gli outsider). Ma bisogna dire che sul fronte PuntanoQui alcune migliorie sono state attuate ("nascondi link" e "nascondi redirect" ci sono da poco, anche se non sono nati perfetti). Quindi il punto non è lamentarsi: quando queste cose saranno sistemate le lamentele rientreranno immediatamente (credo, ad es., di aver fatto critiche costruttive a VE, poi a un certo punto l'ho abbandonato perché è inguaribilmente lento). Il punto è far sì che queste cose vengano fatte. E vengo all'ultimo punto.
Perché lo scrivo a te? Forse ho una visione distorta della situazione, ma ho la sensazione che tu più di me sei in grado di passare queste richieste lì dove possono essere ascoltate. Anche solo per abitudine e praticità. Allo stesso modo, potresti pensare a me per un argomento di linguistica. E se valuti positivamente il merito delle proposte, a quel punto scegliere di diffonderle è un edit volontario come qualsiasi altro.
Detto altrimenti, il mio volontariato si ferma, per quanto riguarda migliorie da dev, alla comunicazione qui all'interno di it.wiki. Quindi sono un imperdonabile poltrone. Oppure devo fare altro. Quindi la mia è una richiesta di aiuto a te (o a chi pensi che possa aiutare in questo).

- Sì, cara, mi è stato utile leggerti, anche se devo dirti che il mio panorama non era distantissimo dal vero. Un punto importantissimo su cui mi sbagliavo era il seguente: pensavo che i dev si occupassero di noi... :-( cioè solo dei vari fratelli WMF.
- Concordo con te: ignorare il panorama comporta lamentele un po' aleatorie. Mi fa cmq piacere essere arrivato da qualche parte.
- Io non ho conoscenze tecniche per valutare se una cosa è semplice o no. Però immagino che se sei in grado di produrre una lista, restituirla in ordine alfabetico non dovrebbe essere una tale impresa. Posso sbagliarmi naturalmente. Ovviamente va considerato che l'ordine alfabetico già da sé restituirebbe un'abberracciata separazione per ns (cmq mescolando ns0 ed ns-diverso-da-0). Facile o meno che sia, credo sia molto molto importante che un progetto fondato sull'ipertesto, e quindi sul link, sia in grado di produrre funzioni per leggere il link al rovescio. Per questo il PuntanoQui è una funzione essenziale e va migliorato: le pagine puntano ad altre pagine, ma cosa punta a questa pagina in cui mi trovo? Gli utilizzi pratici di questa funzione sono tanti: la uso così tanto che non saprei elencarli.
- Come detto, se anche tu ritieni che sia una battaglia da combattere, possiamo approfondire la cosa. So che non mi sento tanto di avventurarmi su bugzilla, un progetto che non frequento e non conosco. Per questo una mano da te (e/o da Nemo, che so spesso in quei lidi) trovo sia importante.
- Quindi in sostanza sono due cose: il PuntanoQui organizzato per ns e ciascuna sezione in ordine alfabetico.

Cambiamenti recenti al software
- La più recente versione di MediaWiki (1.23wmf14) è stata aggiunta ai test wikis e a MediaWiki.org il 13 febbraio. Sarà aggiunta ai non-Wikipedia wikis il 18 febbraio, e a tutte le Wikipedie il 20 febbraio (calendario).
- Ora puoi usare di nuovo l'elenco degli utenti attivi. [102] [103]
- Il nuovo motore interno di ricerca (CirrusSearch), se cerchi tra più namespace, ora dà la precedenza ai risultati relativi ai namespace di contenuto. [104]

Progetto:Sestopedia
Sto dando una mano al Progetto:Sestopedia che sta cercando di riproporre l'esperienza di MonmouthpediA in un contesto molto differente: una ex città delle fabbriche che in epoca di quasi totale deindustrializzazione, vuole salvaguardarne la memoria attraverso anche i QRCode Il progetto è già iniziato. Ieri alla presenza delle autorità cittadine e dei rappresentanti delle associazioni locali, è stata presentata la mappa dei primi 19 QRCode posti sui totem. I volontari che seguono l'iniziativa sono quasi tutti di persone che non hanno un passato wikipediano, ma suppliscono con una enorme passione la necessità di dover imparare tutto su wiki e di dover trascinare nella cosa strati sempre più larghi della popolazione di Sesto San Giovanni.
Gli ambiti di attività sono in buona parte innovativi rispetto agli usi tradizionali: ad esempio in biblioteca i QRCode, oltre che per indirizzare ai testi di storia locale o alla Fototeca nazionale Casiraghi, portano al generatore di epub di Wikisource (l'ambizioso progetto è di realizzarlo anche per i Libri di Wikipedia). Tra l'altro la biblioteca di Sesto aderisce al Consorzio Sistema Bibliotecario Nord-Ovest, che è territorialmente impegnato per le sinergie con l'Expo 2015.
Il respiro del progetto è plurilingue: a Sesto e dintorni vi è una grossa presenza di immigrati; in particolare è importante la componente egiziana, sia della comunità musulmana che di quella copta (che ha in zona due parrocchie) L'appoggio della facoltà di Mediazione interculturale dell'Università statale di Milano può permettere la traduzione in una pluralità di lingue.

Da qualche parte questo benedetto indirizzo va fornito. In WP:CONCEDI non ci arrivi. Inutile fare tanti discorsi di wikilove, a voler attirare nuovi utenti quando poi diventa impossibile per un nuovo utente serio scoprire senza una lunga caccia al tesoro come fornire il permesso. Scusa ma le spiegazioni cosi' come sono, senza un indirizzo sembrano più una presa per i fondelli a chi onestamente vuole contribuire. --Bramfab Discorriamo 15:57, 14 mar 2014 (CET)
- Non parlo per me, mi metto nei panni di un niubbo, uno dei tanti che mi scrive disorientato e che vuole inserire da un testo cataceo. Si parte da (1) Wikipedia:OTRS dove nelle prime righe trova l'indicazione: per inviare autorizzazioni (cosiddette "concessioni") relative alla pubblicazione di contenuti enciclopedici, l'indirizzo è indicato nella pagina apposita, benissimo va nella (2) pagina apposita Wikipedia:CONCEDI#Se_concedi_l.27uso_del_materiale_presente_sul_tuo_sito_o_su_altre_fonti e non trova alcun indirizzo (e questo già suona male), ma trova 8 alternative, inizia a sfogliare le opzioni, le prima due pagine (3) e (4) aperte non fanno al caso suo e neppure parlano di autorizzazioni, finalmente alla terza opzione (5) Wikipedia:OTRS/Procedura_3 dove inizia a leggere una lunga chiaccherata, con contenuti sacrosanti, ma inizio a dubitare che dopo aver aperto invano 5 pagine abbia desiderio di fermarsi a leggere ancora un testo che riempie un foglio A4 per arrivare alla riga in cui trova "Clicca qui per esempi, dettagli e l'indirizzo e-mail cui far pervenire la richiesta." e da qui finire in (6) Wikipedia:OTRS/Procedura_3/2, dove, dopo esempi di email finalmente trova il sospirato indirizzo.
- Qualunque ragione ci sia, e non nego che il problema intasamento sia reale, una simile procedura, assimilabile più ad un caccia al tesoro o al gioco dell'oca, che a delle istruzioni di una procedura connesso all'informatica, non solo non e' wiki, non e' per niente amichevole e fornisce l'impressione corretta (a quanto mi scrivi) di voler complicare la vita e far scemare la volontà di licenziare documenti per wikipedia.
- Mi sembra assurdo che da un lato si parli e si propagandi il wikilove, il non mordere i nuovi utenti, anche in casi evidentissimi di utenti decisamente non pronti neppure a scrivere un paragrafo sulla propria squadra di calcio, e poi si renda veramente difficile la contribuzione da parte di persone che hanno scritto o detengono diritti su articoli, saggi ecc.
- E a tirar le somme nella globalità' impegnano maggiormente i niubbi semialfabetizzati che gli altri.
- Io credo che occorra trovare il modo di semplificare ed agevolare questo tipo di contribuzione, ossia la donazione di testi e immagini.--Bramfab Discorriamo 17:06, 14 mar 2014 (CET)

ciao. ho un dubbio sulle notifiche che eventualmente vorrei testare con te. non ricordo bene se, qualora io andassi su una cronologia e andassi ad aprire e salvare una vecchia versione, tutti gli autori degli edit intermedi fra la versione ripristinata e quella corrente siano avvisati tramite notifica. I libri di PediaPress
In assemblea hai riferito di PediaPress e della sua proposta di stampare i 2.000 volumi di WP in lingua inglese. Io sono poi dovuto scappare per non perdere il treno che avevo prenotato,ma ti avrei proposto che, se non si riesce a stampare WP, si faccia in alternativa la stampa di wikisource. Forse ti avevo già detto che gli esperimenti di ebook li avevo fatti soprattutto con http://wsexport.wmflabs.org/tool/book.php . Si possono replicare le prove con PediaPress, che presenterebbe il vantaggio di avere già una organizzazione per la stampa on demand, ma per proseguire nel lavoro ci sarebbe la necessità di coordinarsi con gli organizzatori di PediaPress.--Mizar (ζ Ursae Maioris) (msg) 10:33, 6 apr 2014 (CEST)

- -la circolare ministeriale per la prima volta introduce come regola generale e non più come eccezione la possibilità di sostituire i libri di testo con materiale didattico alternativo,
- -si sta diffondendo il tablet in comodato agli alunni: Solo la Lombardia se ne stanno distribuendo 70.000.
- Potrebbe essere per PediaPress l'occasione l'occasione per offrire i suoi servizi, con i pregi e i difetti ora esistenti. Si tratta solo di vedere solo se è interessata ad un confronto di idee con chi segue la tematica. Notifiche/OS
Ciao cara, pensi che un giorno sarà possibile scegliere le voci nelle Notifiche, allo stesso modo che per gli OS? Le Notifiche sono un ottimo strumento per il patrolling, ad es. perché segnalano collegamenti attivati ad una voce nel proprio elenco. Il problema è che allo stato ti vengono segnalate notifiche su voci che non interessano l'utente. Ad esempio una volta scorporai "Calcio in Italia" (quindi in apparenza sono il creatore...) e non ce la faccio più ad avere notizie su questa voce. Per non parlare della voce "Chiesa". Nella pagina che ti ho linkato, sul loro blog, in linkedin, su FB (vedi 24 apr) e chissà dove altro. Il bello è che io l'ho trovato cercando per la rassegna stampa, e deduco che la loro addetta stampa (vedi in fondo primo link) lo spaccia alle agenzie di stampa. Direi che è il caso di inibirgliene l'uso. Se serve completiamo l'accertamento, ci sarà sicuramente anche altrove. Re:semplificazioni eccessive
Grazie per il tuo intervento. Non so cosa succede in questi ultimi tempi, ma ho come l'impressione che mi stia allontanando sempre più dall'opinione del "wikipediano medio". Anche su en.wikipedia non mi trovo molto a mio agio nelle discussioni. E' abbastanza verosimile che ciò sia dovuto al fatto che la mia esperienza su Wikipedia sia differente rispetto alla maggioranza degli altri wikipediani. In passato alcune proposte che ho avanzato sono state abbastanza gradite, ad esempio Aiuto:Tour guidato e il Progetto:Accoglienza (che se ricordo bene è partito da una mia proposta che poi ha preso forma grazie alla guida di Pierpao e altri utenti), mentre molte altre proposte non sono mai state prese in considerazione (ad esempio la mia proposta di creare due interfacce di modifica, una per esperti e una per neoutenti, sebbene il Visual Editor in un certo senso sia vicino a questa proposta, ma ovviamente non è nato dalla mia proposta e il suo scopo è almeno in teoria differente).
Negli ultimi tempi invece mi sembra che le mie opinioni siano troppo controcorrente, al punto di creare scompiglio nelle discussioni anziché favorire il consenso.
D'altronde non ho più l'intraprendenza e la disponibilità di tempo di una volta, per cui anche se una mia proposta fosse ritenuta interessante per lo sviluppo di Wikipedia, il fatto che non mi possa dedicare ad essa fa sì che nel 99% tale proposta non verrà mai attuata. Infatti in questi anni ho imparato che tranne rari casi è bene che chi fa una proposta sia anche disponibile a portarla avanti.
Il motivo per cui quasi tutte le mie ultime proposte siano scartate penso che dipenda dal fatto che spesso tali proposte nascono da mie esigenze personali, che sono differenti dalle esigenze degli altri wikipediani.
Ti ho spiegato un po' la mia situazione perché vedo/penso che sei interessata alla mia collaborazione su Wikipedia e avrai percepito il mio scoramento di questi ultimi tempi. In tal caso vorrei rassicurarti sul fatto che ho intenzione di continuare a contribuire su it.wikipedia, solo che sto attraversando un periodo di transizione durante il quale sto cercando di spostare gradualmente e inesorabilmente i miei contributi esclusivamente verso gli argomenti che caratterizzano il mio profilo accademico/professionale (ingegneria di processo/ingegneria chimica); ciò significa che ho intenzione di diminuire sempre più i miei interventi nelle pagine del Bar e nei progetti e concentrarmi invece allo sviluppo delle voci che sto identificando nella mia pagina utente. Purtroppo it.wikipedia non mi aiuta molto in questa transizione, per cui ho pensato di allargare i miei orizzonti e iniziare a contribuire seriamente anche su en.wikipedia, che può essere un buon tramite per collaborare con altri esperti del mio settore (ad esempio su en.wikipedia esiste un progetto sull'ingegneria chimica, sebbene sia poco attivo).
Detto ciò, devo aggiungere che come ho detto in precedenza, ammiro molto i tuoi contributi su Wikipedia, in particolare riguardo al Progetto Wikilibri (che mi dispiace non abbia avuto un seguito negli ultimi anni) e al Visual Editor, per cui per quanto possa essere concentrato nelle voci del mio settore, penso che seguirò sempre con piacere le iniziative nelle quali sarai coinvolta. Tra le tante cose, vedo che ti sei occupata anche dei progetti GLAM. Ultimamente mi è capitato di parlare con un mio amico che abita a Londra e che vorrebbe svolgere un lavoro di volontariato ma oltre a ciò avrebbe la necessità che tale esperienza venga documentata. Gli ho proposto dunque di collaborare a Wikipedia e in particolare al progetto GLAM, indicandogli il link di tale progetto e il nome di un organizzatore. File cancellati da Commons, secondo quali criteri ?
Cara Eli, tu che sei l'esperta, riusciresti a spiegarmi perchè 7 file della voce Pubblicazioni dei Testimoni di Geova, tre file (Savignano, Fracci, Nureev), alcuni altri dell'Associazione Deportati ed altri del del Memoriale della Shoah (vedi la cronologia e gli osservati speciali di ieri) sono stati cancellati da Commons tramite "certo" Steinsplitter? I file sono tutti come avrebbe detto Totò di: me medesimo proprio, ma il bello è, che alcuni della stessa serie sono rimasti ed altri cancellati. Ti chiedo quindi, tu che sai certamente la ragione: Quale criterio viene usato per la cancellazione di alcuni file rispetto ad altri? Non per altro, ma anche io ci terrei a fare un bagno fra Fuscaldo e Paola :) anzichè dedicare tempo (molto tempo) a cercare nei miei archivi foto o, fotografare soggetti ex novo, che rischiano di essere destinati alla cancellazione. Ho un archivio di circa 12.000 fra foto e dia, e non vorrei che il problema si ripetesse con i prossimi caricamenti. Grazie anticipate per il tuo aiuto. - Ho capito (per la prima volta, scusami, ma non tutti sono perfetti e io più imperfetto degli altri) che questo sia valido per le copertine di opuscoli e riviste (anche se poi molte copertine di opuscoli e riviste sono in bella mostra su Wp, ma tralasciamo), ma mi dici cosa c'entrano le foto di Fracci, Savignano e Nureev? Io sono stato in teatro mentre si esibivano, io ho fotografato a 4000 Asa una pellicola che ne aveva solo 400, io ho sviluppato i negativi, io ho stampato le foto, devo essere proprietario del Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari per usare le foto di questi artisti? O si sottintende che abbia copiato da qualche rivista quelle foto? Dovremmo fare curare d'urgenza chi lo sottintende, perchè esistono negativi con i servizi (ovvero da 40 a 80 foto diverse per ogni servizio) e già il fatto di sottointenderlo e cancellare le foto caricate senza chiedere, a mio avviso è gravissimo--Fcarbonara (msg) 13:49, 14 lug 2014 (CEST)

Ma il fatto che si concluda che ci sia un dubbio di autenticità (sfido chiunque a provare che sono copiate da qualsiasi rivista, pubblicazione, internet poi, sigh! siamo alla frutta!), se mi avvisavano scrivendo nella mia talk si sarebbe evitato il problema. La colpa probabilmente è mia, ma come potevo tenere fra gli osservati speciali questa pagina? Ora se recuperi i file, cara Eli (grazie per il tuo interessamento) puoi dire che i file sono stati scansionati da stampe e sono a bassa risoluzione (fra non molto gli daremo quelle foto ed altre alla fisoluzione dovuta perchè mi sta arrivando uno scanner che scansiona direttamente i negativi e le diapositive professionalmente). - Scusami, ma davvero non capisco, anche se leggo qui comprendo chiaramente che basta citare "opera propria" e la licenza è operante. Cosa c'entra un catalogo della mostra stampato dalla Regione Calabria e dal Comune di Martina Franca? Io non ho preso la mia immagine da quei cataloghi per pubblicarla su Wp (ci sarebbe stato l' effetto moiré) ma da una stampa cartacea (una foto "stampata" è una foto esposta e poi sviluppata in due bagni di sviluppo e fissaggio, artigianalmente). Quindi davvero non capisco solo perchè esistono dei cataloghi delle mie due mostre, dovrei lasciare un'autorizzazione? I cataloghi te li ho citato solo per mettere in risalto che quelle foto mi appartengono, tanto che sono apparsi su cataloghi con il mio nome e cognome (Nella pagina finale c'è la dichiarazione che le fotografie sono tutte di Francesco Carbonara). Farò come dici incominciando a studiarmi la policy di Commons. Grazie del tuo aiuto e suggerimenti, non vorrei apparire ingrato, tu non c'entri niente, ma la cosa un pò mi ha scocciato per diverse ragioni. Come faccio a sapere quando avrai "recuperato" quei file? E poi cosa consigli li ricarico con una risoluzione diversa? Recent software changes
- The latest version of MediaWiki (1.24wmf14) was added to test wikis and MediaWiki.org on July 17. It will be added to non-Wikipedia wikis on July 22, and to all Wikipedias on July 24 (calendar).
- CirrusSearch was removed as the primary search method from Wikimedia Commons and the Spanish (es) Wikipedia due to a high server load. The plan to enable it on the Dutch (nl), Japanese (ja), Polish (pl) and Russian (ru) Wikipedias was also postponed to a later date. [472] [473] [474]
- The tool that stores information about languages (CLDR) was updated to its latest version. You can still help translate language names into your own language so they can be used in the sidebar and other places. [475]

VisualEditor news
- Tablet users visiting the mobile version of Wikimedia wikis will be able to use a special version of VisualEditor starting on July 31. You can test the new tool by choosing the beta version of the mobile view in the Settings menu. Feedback is welcome. [479]
- All windows in VisualEditor have now a new design. Main action buttons will always be located in the top bar and will use simple words rather than icons. [480]

Sulle licenze
Siccome nelle prossime settimane caricherò diversi file e a settembre parte del mio archivio di foto e dia su teatro-danza-musica (mi sto studiando per bene le pagine di Commons), saresti cosi' gentile, quando puoi, fugare qualche mio dubbio?
Eccoli:
- Vedi questo file caricato in sei voci di lingue diverse (fra cui anche Wp in italiano). Il file rappresenta una traduzione biblica edita nel 2013 nella sola lingua inglese. La pubblicazione è stampata e di proprietà della Watch Tower, N:Y:, USA. L'utente che l'ha inserita, anche se non lo conosco, so di certo che non è il proprietario della Watch Tower. La domanda è questa: Come mai il file di questa pubblicazione non è stato cancellato e le mie foto ovvero quelle in questa cronologia, dello stesso identico tipo e della stessa casa editrice, si? Non mi sembra che le licenze siano diverse. Significa questo, che fra qualche mese quando la traduzione esce in italiano ed io fotografo la stessa Bibbia in italiano e colloco il file nella pagina "Pubblicazione dei Testimoni di Geova", il file è destinato ad essere cancellato?
Se prendiamo poi la stessissima voce Pubblicazioni dei Testimoni di Geova in altre lingue, le mie perplessità aumentano: Vedi questa voce corrispondente alla nostra in polacco] ebbene conta 20 file dello stesso tipo di copertine di libri e opuscoli da me fotografati ma cancellati (attenzione, solo 4 o 5 sono vecchissime rappresentazioni di libri della Watch Tower, le altre, sono di pubblicazioni edite nella forchetta di 5-15 anni). Riesci a spiegarmi questa "particolarità"?
- Sono stato all'AFIP ed ho parlato con un mio carissimo amico, il cui sbigottimento dopo quanto gli ho detto (cosa che temevo) è stato totale. E' regola conclamata da secoli nel mondo dei fotografi professionisti: Chi detiene i negativi (attenzione Eli, qui non parliamo di foto digitali dove non è possibile stabilire in modo inequivocabile la provenienza, ma di negativi, supporti analogici, e diapositive facenti parte di servizi fotografici completi, non di uno o due foto, ma di trenta quaranta e più foto dello stesso soggetto nello stesso ambiente anche perchè se ne carico p.e. 10 dello stesso soggetto ed ho anche i negativi che posso scannerizzare con tanto di numeri progressivi per provare che li detengo, è pacifico che il proprietario sono io) è il reale proprietario delle foto e per le legge sul copyright in Italia ne fa cosa vuole (p.e. lo stesso servizio può venderlo a più testate senza trasgredire nessuna legge, e non deve fare assolutamente niente se non, firmare le foto di dietro e cederle agli editori, segue fattura e pagamento). Quando gli ho prospettato il fatto di aver fatto due mostre con due cataloghi dove appaiono le mie foto della mostra e che ora per pubblicarle su WP devo usare un modello di autorizzazione speciale perchè quelle mie foto non abbiano problemi di licenza, non credeva alle sue orecchie, ti risparmio i suoi "particolari" commenti. Ti chiedo, ti dispiace evidenziarmi quale parte della policy su Commons parla di questa clausola?
- C'è un metodo per fare apparire fra gli osservati speciali di Wikipedia, le discussioni della mia pagina su Commons?
O devo ogni giorno accedere a Commons per vedere se esiste una nuova discussione (vedi le ultime azioni di cui ero completamente all'oscuro)? Infatti, per te la pagina principale, probabilmente sarà Commons, per me è diverso, sto su Wp in italiano e consulto Commons solo quando devo caricare le foto e finora, ho ignorato sempre la pagina discussione relativa a Commons), quindi la ignoro fino al prossimo caricamento.

nuovo bug con il VE. creando una voce con vari template Bio, Sportivo e quant'altro, al momento di scrivere una frase ("È blablabla...") e mettere un wikilink, TUTTO il testo (ma non i template) viene sostituito dal pezzo del pedone. ho dovuto annullare (perdendo quanto digitato) e commutare alla modifica standard per poter finire la voce in santa pace... --valepert 17:59, 29 lug 2014 (CEST)
