Cannot use UTF-8 coded usernames > 7-bit ASCII (Umlaute etc.) in mail headers

This is not possible, see http://www.php-resource.de/forum/showthread/t-33031.html (in German). Only the mail text body can have UTF-8 coded character, but not the subject or from: line.
