Cannot use UTF-8 coded usernames > 7-bit ASCII, Umlaute etc. in mail headers

This is not possible, see http://www.php-resource.de/forum/showthread/t-33031.html (in German). Only the mail text body can have UTF-8 coded character, but not the subject or from: line.

A possible solution is the use of

• http://de3.php.net/pt_BR/imap-8bit allows headers as "Subject: äöüß"
