Biography of Mr RS Varatharajoo - The Indian Mouth Organ Die Hard in Singapore
Mr RS Varatharajoo was born on April 24th 1936 in Singapore. He is the 3rd child of a family of 4 children. He was a ardent music enthusiast since he was the kid. At the age of about 16, he chanced upon the wind instrument known as the Harmonica in the western world, aka the Mouth Organ. He fell in love with this 6 inch musical equipment quite instantly and started his maiden attempt at blowing away on a toy harmonica. His love for this small music instrument just ballooned since that time. He started a band at the age of 21 where he could put his talent to good use. He performed in the Singapore Indian Radio and TV Channels in the 1960s when media broadcasting was in its infancy in Singapore. He had performed at Indian musical events, weddings functions, and concerts. He has also performed in Malaysia with other musicians from Singapore and Malaysia. His live long dream is to perform in one of the premier TV Channels in South India where he feels he can demonstrate his passion for this little wind instrument. At the age of 80, he hopes that he can still perform at auspicious Hindu events at temples. He practices every night and endeavours to make his talent known to the Indian Sub-continent.
