Alleged copyright violation
The allegation of a copyright violation is incorrect. I wrote many parts of this article, and my contributions are all original. My contributions are present on the external web site. The web site copied my contributions from Wikipedia, not the reverse.

- If you look closely at this diff, you will see some sections that are different from the cited copyvio "source". The old rev in that diff is significant, because it is when the Travelling tips section was added, and it is not likely that both pages came up with the same format for that section independently. So, at that point, we can reasonably establish that one site copied from the other; and, since the first rev with that section on wikipedia is different than the current version on the cited page, it seems that ours was the source and gradually evolved into the current version, which is nearly the same as what is on the cited page. On the cited page, the wording matches our version on April 11, which is not a surprise since the cited page has an updated date at the bottom for the last time they (presumably) trolled wikipedia for the info. - It sounds like you have a point there. I'll re-revert. Most of the material will have to be rewritten anyway, because it reads like a travel guide rather than an encyclopedia entry. NeonMerlin 06:51, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
Fg2, as a contributor to the article, you may want to pursue GFDL compliance with them. The page recommends that contributors be the one who contacts the offending site. Feel free to use my "proof", though. :-) Neier 13:16, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Rewrite
This should be an encyclopedic article about the popular tourist attractions in Japan, the demographics and motivations of tourists, and the economic impact of tourism. Instead, it's a travel guide, and Wikipedia is specifically not a place for travel guides. As well, this article has no references. NeonMerlin 07:05, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Such details are, however, very welcome at Wikitravel, but note that due to license incompatibility you cannot copy content wholesale unless you are the copyright holder." In reading Tourism in Japan, I do find things along the lines of landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre. The link says they should be mentioned in the article so obviously that information should stay in place. I cannot find anything analogous to favorite hotels or price of coffee, that is, things that are inappropriate. So if you can identify which information is inappropriate according to the guideline you cited, it would be a good starting point for improving the article. Regarding references, demographics, motivations of tourists, and economic impact of tourism, I agree that they would be valuable additions to the article, and if you have factual information on those subjects to contribute, Wikipedia will welcome such contributions.
