"The Thunder Rolls" is a song released by American Country Music artist Garth Brooks. It debuted on his sophomore album No Fences and also appears on The Hits, The Limited Series, and Double Live. The song was written by Brooks and Pat Alger.

"The Thunder Rolls" tells the story of a wife waiting up late into the night for her husband, who has apparently been working late. As he comes into the house, she smells perfume on him. All of this is set against the backdrop of a storm, representing the tribulation of her marriage.

The song contains a third verse that has her running to her dresser drawer to get a pistol, telling herself that she'll never again wonder where he is. However, producer Allen Reynolds felt it worked well with just two verses and the third verse never appeard on the studio version, though Brooks does sing it at concert. The video to the single (which while it dosen't include the last verse) does have a scene where the woman kills her husband.
