Voldemort / Morphin Gaunt
You reverted a change I made regarding Voldemort's framing of his uncle, Morphin Gaunt, for the murders of the Riddle family.
On the one hand, yes it is merely "possible" that Voldemort's first impression of his uncle was one of revulsion, and this is indeed speculation. I believe it to be informed speculation, and also that some attempt be made to explain Voldemort's (or Tom Riddle's, as he then was) attitude to his forebears.
The murder of the Riddles is almost casually explained as a result of their being Muggles. There most probably was some reason other than mere convenience to explain for Tom Riddle to condemn his uncle to Azkaban and try to obliterate any memory of Morphin's which indicated Riddle's ancestry. - Okay, it's still speculation though. It's a fairly trivial detail that just adds length. John Reaves 15:03, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
Assessment
I don't think there is, but it can probably be done with AWB. Mathbot just sees their assessment and creates a table and log. Not that many left though surely? Thanks for your help, RHB 22:33, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
My Questionable Information
Information regarding the coincidences between World War II and Rowling’s wizarding world should be mentioned. I am trying to make wikipedia users and Harry Potter fans smarter.Mdriver1981 04:09, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
- Not it should not, it is original research. John Reaves 04:10, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
Subst-ing {{spoiler}}
Hey John, just wanted to let you know that it's probably ill-advised to subst the {{spoiler}} template, as I have seen you doing. Cheers, Fbv65edel / ☑t / ☛c || 19:12, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks for the warning. I was actually looking for some sort of guideline last night and couldn't find one. John Reaves 19:15, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
I've restored and redirected, but if you still are upset at closing you can take it to WP:DRV. Yanksox 23:00, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

- Sorry if I sounded like I snapped, but it takes time to read, understand, and contextualize AfD discussions. Yanksox 23:27, 17 December 2006 (UTC)

Articles
Thanks for telling me. I'm going to have to find the opportunity to make sure the Students article gets properly merged. Well done for complaining about the birthday list: Yanksox seems rather high-handed. As for the list/whatever-it-was that my name was on, it was a reference to cattlegirl, who left a message on my talkpage regarding Severus Snape. Though I really don't understand why it had been considered noteworthy anywhere else... Michaelsanders 01:34, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

Requiem for a Dream
If you review my edit history, you'll see I'm not a vandal. I found the soundtrack track listing unnecesary for the page, and removed it. I don't consider that vandalism. Evan Reyes 09:22, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Hagrid
In CoS, Riddle says that Dumbledore persuaded Dippet to train Hagrid up as gamekeeper. In GoF, Mrs Weasley remembers Ogg, the previous gamekeeper. Groundskeeper is not mentioned. That title is, however, used as part of Keeper of Keys and Grounds in PS. It is not specified if they are separate jobs or different names for the same job - however, a gamekeeper is in charge of a property's lifestock (i.e. the forbidden forest creatures etc), whilst a groundskeeper is a glorified gardener. Hogwarts Houses
I was sent a message that I contributed something inappropriate to Hogwart's.
I've never been there, and have no knowledge of any of it.

Harry Potter talk page edits
According to this, we're apparently famous. And once again, Lapinmies has put back the argument. Although it is almost 3 am in the morning for me, I originally read it at around 7, and I still can't understand what argument he/she is trying to get across. Hope you have better luck. grednforge222's suggestion
i suggest that you go to muggles' guide to harry potter on wikibooks.org, one of wikipedia's sister projects. it is a very big development and a great resource. it would be nice to have more contributers, and you seem really into harry potter. just so you know, i'm not any sort of authority in muggles' guide. you can talk with withfocus, the head of the project.
Harry Potter AfD page
Hey John, since we disagree on the use of the AfD page, I figured I'd bring this up for discussion before we get into a revert war. I think we're losing sight of the purpose of the AfD page. The reason why the page was kept sparse is because this is just an information page to let people know when there are HP pages nominated for deletion. When nomination is closed, we no longer need to pay attention to it. Keeping the history around just clutters up the page and brings the focus away from nominations in progress. We've gotten grief in the past from other Wikipedians because they feel that letting other people in the HP Wikiproject know about the nominations means we're trying to rally up the troops to get an article kept when in reality, we all differ on the notability of articles, but this page is supposed to bring the discussion to people who have a better idea about the article in question. Putting up a "history" seems to glorify the page and opens us up to criticism. Various Wikiprojects have similar AfD pages, and most of them keep the history out. For those of us who want to know whether an article was deleted or kept, the history of the AfD page should more than suffice. Please take a look at how this page was used prior to December, that's the ideal use of a Wikiproject AfD page. Thanks for reading this, Deathphoenix ʕ 14:46, 2 January 2007 (UTC)
