Looking for Sevir Chernetsov's offprint found in Lit. 'Social estate' Soslovie by Editor(end of pdf, name Sergei Frantsouzoff )
- "'social estate' soslovie" (PDF): 442 source 5.
{{cite journal}}

(help)
For the Amhara people page. On page 442 source 5 of the pdf, Sevir Chernotsov's conclusions according to editor (probably Sergei Frantsouzoff) can be found in lit. social estate' soslovie by editor. I want to verify Sevir Chernotsov's central conclusion regarding Amhara people. Unfortunately i can't find a book title/number, articles anything.
Second question is, whether the PDF of this editor can be regarded as a reliable source about the conclusions of Sevir Chernotsov, if Lit. 'Social estate' Soslovie can't be found here.
Thanks, Dawit S Gondaria (talk) 21:26, 1 May 2021 (UTC)
- That seems to just be an explanatory footnote? The editor, rather than the author, wanted to clarify in a footnote that the term Chernetsov used was soslovie, which literally means "social estate" and that this is what the article is referring to with the phrase "ruling feudal class". This isn't a reference. Umimmak (talk) 21:46, 1 May 2021 (UTC)
- @@Umimmak: I though it was a reference to a literature'/offprint because of lit before social estate, and source 4 en 6 are references to Sevir Chernetsov work. Thanks for the translation. Can this pdf be regarded as a reliable source(question 2) for Sevir Chernetsov conclusion? Dawit S Gondaria (talk) 22:13, 1 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Dawit S Gondaria: I mean to me it seems like it's a reliable source insofar as it's in a scholarly journal, namely Forum for Anthropology and Culture. But if this is for an article about the Amhara, I think it might make more sense to also look at sources about the Amhara themselves, e.g., doi:10.1163/18177565-90000138 or [2], rather than an obituary of Chernetsov, since they'd be able to put his work in the context of larger scholarship? I believe WP:RSN is the venue for asking if a source is reliable if you want further guidance. Umimmak (talk) 22:38, 1 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Dawit S Gondaria: Well i have read the parts of Sevir Chernetsov regarding Amhara, this source(pdf) suggest his central conclusion is one could not decide whether the Amhara were an ethnos, a super-ethnos, or a ruling feudal class in contrast to his work. But thank you for the reference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dawit S Gondaria (talk • contribs) 23:07, 1 May 2021 (UTC)
