The Majeerteen or Majerteen ("Mohamed bin Harti bin Amaleh bin Abdi bin Mohammed bin Abdirahman al-Jaberti") is a Somali clan, part of the Harti group of the Darod clan.

The Majerteen primarily inhabit the region of Puntland in the North East of Somalia, along with part of the Ogaden area in Ethiopia and Kismayo, in southern Somalia. The Majerteen have played a key role in the history of Somalia. The sultanate of the Majerteens played an important role before the colonisation by the Italians. The clan has produced two Presidents and two Prime ministers since 1960, also a Sultan and a King (Boqor). They held many other government posts in the sixties and early seventies. Also a Majerteen was Osman Yusuf Kenadeed, the inventor of the first Somali script.

Today the clan plays a key role in Puntland. The related Harti clans Dhulbahante and Warsengeli inhabit the Sool and Sanaag regions, respectively.

There is no clear agreement on the clan and sub-clan structures. For a comparison of different views on the clan-lineage-structures see the World Bank's Conflict in Somalia: Drivers and Dynamics.[1]
