Black Sails in the Sunset is a 1999 hardcore punk album by AFI. This is the first full-length album with Jade Puget as a full time member of the band.

Dexter Holland, singer from The Offspring and owner of AFI's label Nitro Records, makes a guest vocal appearance on this album.

  • ^ The CD case lists track 2 as Porphyria, whilst the sleeve names it Porphyria Cutanea Tarda.
  • ^ Lower It is a special track which was available only on the 12" vinyl version of the album. It occupied track 7.
  • ^ Track titles 9 and 10 were switched on the CD face and on the back of the packaging. The correct order is listed here.
  • ^ God Called In Sick Today is a consistently played song during live performances, generally used to conclude the set list.
  • ^ Midnight Sun is a hidden song which is found on the same track as God Called In Sick Today, 10 minutes and 28 seconds in on the CD version.

This is a lyric from the hidden track[6], Midnight Sun. Influenced by poet Charles Baudelaire who wrote the poem "De Profundis Clamavi". Such hidden messages are present on many of AFI's releases on Nitro Records.
