Radio career

Ron's radio career started on The Ron and Ron Show in Florida with co-host Ron Diaz. In 1997, the show disbanded and Ron teamed up with Fez Whatley to create The Ron and Fez Show. The show broadcasted out of New York on 102.7 FM WNEW-FM from 2000-2003 until the station ended its all talk format, and eventually moved to 106.7 FM WJFK-FM near Washington D.C. where it aired live from 2003-2005. WJFK had been simulcasting the WNEW-based show since 2000. Ron and Fez moved back to New York and debuted on XM Satellite Radio on September 12, 2005.

Personal life

Ron, whos childhood nickname was "Tex", hails from Chichester, Pennsylvania between Philadelphia and Wilmington, Delaware. Ron owned a comedy club in Florida and in his early years spent time with the likes of famous stand-up comedians Bill Hicks and Sam Kinison. He grew up as a boyhood friend of "Don Vito" Vincent Margera, who won the "Binge Bowl" on The Ron and Ron Show while it was in Tampa. Ron and his family currently live in New York.

Ron, regarded as having a fantastically quick wit, often uses drug references on the air to make jokes. For example, when someone admits to a substance problem, he breaks out his catchphrase, "It don't make you a bad person." Ron has alluded to personal problems in the past, with multiple references being made to cocaine and rehab. It appears he has conquered them to date. While on XM Radio's "Broadminded" in June 2006 Ron mentioned having been clean for 7 1/2 years. Ron regularly smokes, and is seen posed with cigars.
