ISO 3166-2:BE is an ISO standard which defines geocodes: it is the subset of ISO 3166-2 which applies to Belgium. It covers 5 Provinces in Flanders and 5 provinces in Wallonia. The first part is the ISO 3166-1 code BE for Belgium, the second part is three-digit-alphabetic, where the first letter marks the region. Brussels is a separate region, therefore, it has a separate code.
