La Wikimedia Foundation sta pianificando una consultazione globale riguardo i modi in cui comunichiamo, con l'obiettivo di coinvolgere Wikimediani e persone simili a noi e migliorare i nostri attuali metodi di comunicazione.
Vogliamo che tutti gli utenti siano in grado di parlarsi sulla wiki, a prescindere dalla loro esperienza, dalle loro capacità e dai loro dispositivi.
Stiamo cercando input da quanti più membri possibili della comunità wikimediana, perché la consultazione riguarda tutti i progetti, in tutte le lingue, con le loro differenti prospettive.
Siamo ancora in fase di pianificazione e abbiamo bisogno del tuo aiuto.
Abbiamo bisogno di volontari che si mettano in contatto con le loro comunità o gruppi di utenti.
Puoi aiutare a creare o gestire una discussione sulla tua wiki, con questi semplici passi:
- Prima di tutto, segnati fra i partecipanti (e indica la tua comunità o gruppo di utenti di provenienza).
- Poi crea una pagina (oppure una discussione al Bar, un thread di mail o qualsiasi altro metodo che ritieni utile) per raccogliere opinioni e dati da altre persone della tua comunità o gruppo di utenti. Questa non è una discussione volta a prendere una decisione, stiamo soltanto raccogliendo feedback e opinioni.
- Chiedi alle persone cosa pensano degli attuali processi di comunicazione. Vogliamo sapere dagli utenti come fanno a comunicare fra loro su Wikipedia e al di fuori di Wikipedia. Inoltre, prendi in considerazione queste cinque domande:
- Quando vuoi discutere di qualcosa con la tua comunità, quali sono i mezzi che funzionano e quali sono i problemi che incontri?
- Quando parli con dei nuovi utenti, cosa funziona nelle attuali pagine di discussione e cosa invece crea loro problemi?
- Quali sono i problemi che gli altri utenti della tua comunità incontrano quando usano le pagine di discussione?
- Quali sono le funzioni che vorreste avere in una pagina di discussione e che non puoi avere per via degli attuali limiti tecnici?
- Quali sono gli aspetti più importanti di una "discussione wiki"?
- Infine, per favore andate nelle pagine di discussione della consultazione 2019 su Mediawiki.org e trascrivete ciò che avete imparato dal vostro gruppo. Se possibile, includete anche i link alle discussioni (se pubbliche).
Puoi anche aiutare a costruire la lista dei tanti differenti modi in cui gli utenti parlano fra loro.
Non tutti i gruppi attivi su una wiki o un gruppo di wiki utilizzano lo stesso modo per discutere: possono usare la wiki, ma anche i social network o tool esterni. Raccontaci come comunica il tuo gruppo.

Asking for Help – blackout to protest the EU Copyright Directive
Salve! On German, Czech and Slovak Wikipedia there is the blackout planned on 21st of March 2019 because of the EU Copyright Directive. The thing is that we prepared our own page on Slovak Wikipedia which we thought would be displayed during the blackout as the only page (similarly to your page in July 2018). But then users from Czech Wikipedia told us that we can only do the translation of template on Meta that is going to be shown on the day of the blackout. My question is how did you do the blackout on Italian Wikipedia in July 2018 from the technical side? Did you create your own page? Thanks for all the answers, --Lišiak (msg) 22:19, 19 mar 2019 (CET)
Poca trasparenza in Wikipedia Italia
Buongiorno vi scrivo perchè vi sono dei seri problemi sulla libertà di informazione e sulla trasparenza in Wikipedia Italia. Avevo contattato lo user Dave Worm chiedendo per un aiuto a denunciare tale situazione e mi ha invitato a rivolgervi prima a voi.
Da un po' di tempo ho incominciato a fare dei contributi su varie pagine di storia e di economia (di cui sono un professionista del settore) e mi sono dovuto scontrare con un gruppo di persone che si spalleggiano l'uno con l'altro per cancellare molto spesso senza ragione i contributi dei vari utenti (non solo i miei) nonostante vi siano le fonti ed abbiano contenuti enciclopedici o ufficiali.
In seguito al mio iniziale stupore ho incominciato a chiedere dei chiarimenti e mi sono arrivati apprezzamenti poco gentili del tipo "Hai manie di grandezza" oppure cosa aspetti a lasciare wikipedia italia sei ancora qua?
Ho inoltre rilevato che questo gruppo di persone vengono all'attacco uno dopo l'altro per dare la parvenza che essi rappresentino tutta la community. Vi inviterei,per chiarezza e trasparenza a leggere le pagine di discussione sui miei profili e sui miei vari contributi. I nomi di questi personaggi che a mio avviso stanno danneggiando gravemente la libertà di wikipedia italia con metodi agressivi molto vicini al bullismo sono: Gac (penso sia il capo), L736, Bramfab, Franz Van Lanzee e Boss.mattia.
Spero che questa email trovi un seguito. Potete fare qualcosa?

- The only part of the message from the bot that I understood was "Hello and welcome to the Italian Wikipedia! We appreciate your contributions. If your Italian skills are not good enough, that’s no problem. - What I don't get though is why I got a message from the bot in the first place... As I've never done anything on the Italian Wiki to my knowlege...
- The closest thing I can think of to a reason for the bot to even care about me is that I visited a Italian wiki page about a political party a while ago... - Yes Luredreier, that's the reason: as explained here, reading an article on a wiki you've never visited before is enough to automatically create your local account on that wiki, and that's why you received the welcome message. Movement Strategy online surveys - opportunity to share your thoughts about reworking movement structures

Community conversations are an integral part of movement strategy “Wikimedia 2030”. They have been ongoing in multiple formats and in numerous languages over the last 2.5 years. Now it is possible to also contribute to the development of recommendations on structural change via an online survey. We are keeping the survey open for additional 2 weeks and post it to wikis to provide wider opportunities to participate for people interested in it.
The survey is available in 8 languages: Arabic, English, French, German, Hindi, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, and Spanish. They contain designated questions about each of the nine thematic areas that the working groups are analyzing and drafting recommendations for. You can freely choose the thematic areas you want to contribute and respond to. The survey questions have been created and designed by the members of the working groups.

Generalmente qui vengono coloro che non parlano l'italiano o sono di wiki straniere! Comunque, ti direi che il luogo giusto per cominciare è Wikipedia in Spagnolo. Se conosci lo Spagnolo (abbastanza da fare una traduzione) sono sicuro che riuscirai ad orientarti bene ed a leggere prima di tutto quali sono i loro criteri di enciclopedicità e poi a creare la voce, esattamente come si crea una nuova voce su questa edizione di Wikipedia. In alternativa, se non vuoi copiare il testo e lavorarci su, puoi provare ad usare anche una cosa come la funzionalità Content Translation. Alla fine, non ti dimenticare di aggiungere il link in spagnolo all'elemento Wikidata, che si raggiunge attraverso il tasto "Elemento Wikidata" nella sidebar laterale "Strumenti". The consultation on partial and temporary Foundation bans just started
Hello,
In a recent statement, the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees requested that staff hold a consultation to "re-evaluat[e] or add community input to the two new office action policy tools (temporary and partial Foundation bans)".
Accordingly, the Foundation's Trust & Safety team invites all Wikimedians to join this consultation and give their feedback from 30 September to 30 October.
How can you help?
- Suggest how partial and temporary Foundation bans should be used, if they should (eg: On all projects, or only on a subset);
- Give ideas about how partial and temporary Foundation bans should ideally implemented, if they should be; and/or
- Propose changes to the existing Office Actions policy on partial and temporary bans.
We offer our thanks in advance for your contributions, and we hope to get as much input as possible from community members during this consultation!

Feedback wanted on Desktop Improvements project

Ciao. The Readers Web team at the WMF will work on some improvements to the desktop interface over the next couple of years. The goal is to increase usability without removing any functionality. We have been inspired by changes made by volunteers, but that currently only exist as local gadgets and user scripts, prototypes, and volunteer-led skins. We would like to begin the process of bringing some of these changes into the default experience on all Wikimedia projects.
We are currently in the research stage of this project and are looking for ideas for improvements, as well as feedback on our current ideas and mockups. So far, we have performed interviews with community members at Wikimania. We have gathered lists of previous volunteer and WMF work in this area. We are examining possible technical approaches for such changes.
We would like individual feedback on the following:
- Identifying focus areas for the project we have not yet discovered
- Expanding the list of existing gadgets and user scripts that are related to providing a better desktop experience. If you can think of some of these from your wiki, please let us know
- Feedback on the ideas and mockups we have collected so far
We would also like to gather a list of wikis that would be interested in being test wikis for this project - these wikis would be the first to receive the updates once we’re ready to start building.
When giving feedback, please consider the following goals of the project:
- Make it easier for readers to focus on the content
- Provide easier access to everyday actions (e.g. search, language switching, editing)
- Put things in logical and useful places
- Increase consistency in the interface with other platforms - mobile web and the apps
- Eliminate clutter
- Plan for future growth
As well as the following constraints:
- Not touching the content - no work will be done in terms of styling templates or to the structure of page contents themselves
- Not removing any functionality - things might move around, but all navigational items and other functionality currently available by default will remain
- No drastic changes to the layout - we're taking an evolutionary approach to the changes and want the site to continue feeling familiar to readers and editors

After this round of feedback, we plan on building a prototype of suggested changes based on the feedback we receive. You’ll hear from us again asking for feedback on this prototype.

Beta feature "Reference Previews"
A new beta feature will soon be deployed to your wiki: Reference Previews. As you might guess from the name, this feature gives you a preview of references in the article text. That means, you can look up a reference without jumping down to the bottom of the page.
Reference Previews have already been a beta feature on German and Arabic Wikipedia since April. Now they will become available on more wikis. Deployment is planned for October 24. More information can be found on the project page.

Invitation to participate in the upcoming WPWP Campaign
Hello Wikipedians,
This is to invite you to join the WPWP Campaign to help improve Wikipedia articles with photos and win prizes. The campaign will run from 1st July 2020 to 31st August 2020.
The campaign primarily aims at using images from Wikimedia Commons on Wikipedia articles that are lacking images. Since 16 June, the Foundation Brand Team has been running a survey in 7 languages about 3 naming options. There are also community members sharing concerns about renaming in a Community Open Letter.
Our goal in this call for feedback is to hear from across the community, so we encourage you to participate in the survey, the open letter, or both. The survey will go through 7 July in all timezones. Input from the survey and discussions will be analyzed and published on Meta-Wiki.

Ho l'onore di presentare Abstract Wikipedia, un nuovo progetto che è stato approvato in unanimità dal Consiglio di Amministrazione di Wikimedia Foundation. Abstract Wikipedia propone una base di conoscenza enciclopedica libera e multilingue, permettendo a più contributori e più lettori di condividere più conoscenza in più lingue. Technical Wishes: FileExporter and FileImporter become default features on all Wikis
The FileExporter and FileImporter will become a default features on all wikis until August 7, 2020. They are planned to help you to move files from your local wiki to Wikimedia Commons easier while keeping all original file information (Description, Source, Date, Author, View History) intact. Additionally, the move is documented in the files view history. How does it work?
