Steelyard Blues is a 1973 film starring Donald Sutherland, Jane Fonda and Peter Boyle. It concerns the lives of a groups of misfits trying to find a happier life against the norms of society. Sutherland plays an ex-con with a passion for stock car racing while embarrassing his brother who is a very respectable member of society. Fonda plays a prostitute with an off-on relationship with Sutherlands character. The film is notable for reprising the very successful Fonda-Sutherland pairing of Klute but this is a very different film (although Fonda is again playing a prostitute). This is an off-beat comedy which not well favoured by the critics at the time and did not do very well commercially either. It generally not mentioned in either of Fonda's or Sutherland's resumés but has a certain charm nonetheless.
