Hi KAVEBEAR! It looks like archive has vol. 1 and 2 edited and selected editions Penguin and Dover. Unfortunately doesn't look like these are what you need, look like you need volume 5 in the Cambridge edition, or volume III, part 2 for the Routledge one. fiveby(zero) 01:06, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If the pages you need fall within his narrative of Cook's death, there's the pamphlet and republished in The death of Captain Cook and other writings. fiveby(zero) 01:38, 22 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@KAVEBEAR, would you alternatively be interested in a scan of those pages? I don't have an ebook edition, but have access to the book itself. Eddie891 Talk Work 14:47, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

For Tanisha Harper. This model/actress has two different DOBs listed online. Some have 1981 and some have 1985. Classmates.com has some of that high school's yearbooks, but unfortunately it doesn't have any of yearbooks for either 1999 or 2003. Looking for either one of those yearbooks to confirm high school grad year and supporting evidence to determine whether 1981 or 1985 is the correct birth year.

Gazal world yes, I can see the snippet, but obviously it isn't complete. I'd like the entire biography that appears in the book. It should be only a few pages as the book is not a biography, but rather a book about her experiences in Korea. SusunW (talk) 22:47, 26 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@SusunW: I can see following information:

"The author was born into the family of a big bourgeois merchant in Havana , Cuba on October 23 , 1928 . received her elementary and sec- ondary education in Catholic schools . In 1949 she graduated from Havana University with a Doctorate of Law and was awarded the national prize " Ricar- do Dolz y Arango " . In 1951 she joined the International Commission of the Women's International Democratic Federation which visited Korea to investigate the crimes and atrocities committed by US soldiers against the civilian population , women and children included, under cover of the UN flag . On her way back to Cuba , Candelaria was arrested in New York where she was made to board a plane and , on arrival in Havana , was escorted to the Military Intelligence Service and the Bureau of Investigation of Communist Activities from the stairway to the plane . She published a pamphlet entitled What I Saw in Korea and covered the whole island denouncing the crimes she had witnessed . She was repeated- ly thrown into prison for these activities . The Cuban people responded with anti- imperialist and internationalist solidarity to the denunciation and the Cuban government was compelled to refrain from sending troops to fight the frater- nal....."

Hope, this is useful. --Gazal world (talk) 22:53, 26 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

For the first {{cn}} in Belmont, Massachusetts. Probably page 64, 66 or 107 according to this index I found. Other sources that say that Belmont was annexed for its water supply would also be sufficient. Thanks, Aaron Liu (talk) 02:28, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

According to the Google Books preview, p. 64 says: "Battles over Water Quality: Contemporary records show that, in the 1870s, there was little scientific agreement about the causes of any pollution to the pond's water, or about the best means of protection. [...] The alleged culprits [...] always seemed to be across the town borders in Arlington and, especially Belmont. [...] A report commissioned in 1879 concluded that the city needed to acquire a strip of land around the Fresh Pond shoreline up to fifty rods (about 825 feet) wide, to remove buildings from around the shore, and to annex the parts of the neighboring towns of Belmont and Arlington that abutted the pond." p. 66 says: "After years of mutual invective, Cambridge finally go the upper hand. [...] Cambridge managed to persuade the legislature of its case for annexation. Some 570 acres of Belmont and 70 acres of Arlington were duly transferred to the city of Cambridge." I can request this book from my university's off-site library, but I think this should be enough to validate that claim, though I think it should be edited to clarify what it means by "for its water supply"? @Eddie891 and BilledMammal: That's a shame about the index. I believe the book breaks the history of club into five‑year sections. I think Leslie Hood should appear in the section from 1896–1900 (he played for the club until 1902) and probably features in the team photograph for those years. I think there are around twenty team photographs in the book so that might help locate the right section. There is also a separate section on the club's annual dinners, written by Mark Waters, where Hood may be mentioned (apparently, Hood was also involved in the club's administration). I did not know this service existed and I think it is fantastic that you have managed to locate a copy of the book. Thank you very much to both of you. @Sollyucko: Hi. No I need the whole thing of course. The typical way has been email. I suppose this isn't available on WP:LIBRARY is it? — Smuckola(talk) 11:36, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Smuckola,   Sent by email. Sollyucko, I don't think sending a single ten-page article is too problematic in terms of fair use, although obviously you should only send whatever you're comfortable sending. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 00:25, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
{{Resolved}}@Extraordinary Writ and Sollyucko: I thank you both; and may you live forever! O most extraordinary of all writs, you have made my long forgotten dreams come true. I spent cumulative months across the years writing Taligent from scratch, and this is one of the most core sources I have never seen before. I had to cite it already, because other sources cited it as part of 90s vaporware archaeology! This is a very big deal to me, at least to commemorate my effort behind the masterpiece. Everybody who knows me, knows this is a big deal. ;) — Smuckola(talk) 08:11, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Confirming existence of a book

Hi all, in this edit, I removed a bunch of uncited content and two sources, because I couldn't find indication that the sources in question exist. The sources in question are:

  • O'Conner, Elizabeth. Here There Were Dragons: New England's Forgotten Cryptozoological Phenomena. St. Paul, Minnesota: Llewellyn, 1994.
  • Original Author: Peter Maly The Lost Feline: A Unknown Cryptid

Seems like probable hoax material to me, wondering if anyone else could confirm. Best wishes, Eddie891 Talk Work 13:28, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Eddie891: Confirm likely hoax; neither title is listed in the usual databases (Worldcat, LibraryThing, Library of Congress, even Amazon, for that matter). I note lack of ISBN? ——Serial 14:06, 27 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Heartfox II, Heartfox, I wonder why you can't access this from your main account through the Wikipedia Library, to which you should have access. It should be available via Proquest.
If this is a dedicated account for RX requests, I'd rather you first made sure you can't access that content yourself. Szmenderowiecki (talk) 16:43, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you cannot access it, I'll send this to you. Szmenderowiecki (talk) 16:44, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
On both my university access and wikipedia library ProQuest only gives citation/abstract for these articles, not full text. As I cannot find the full text elsewhere I have made requests here. Heartfox (talk) 22:19, 28 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

J-LEAGUE TACTICS SOCCER

Year: 1999
Publisher: ASCII Entertainment
Developer: ASCII Entertainment

IF YOU LIKE your Japanese football games but you aren't very skilful then perhaps a Japanese football management game is more your cup of sake. J-League Tactics Soccer has you taking on your favourite J-League team - or, if you don't know any, the one with the best mascot - and trying to guide them to glory. You can even take charge of the Japan national team and try to make them world champions, if your ambition goes that high. The game looks suspiciously like Konami's Perfect Striker / ISS series right down to some of the character animations, but there don't appear to be any signs that Konami were involved in any way.

FACT: If you want to give the game a bit of a personal touch, you can create four players and bring them with you when you start managing your first team.

For Naturism in the United States: complete history, events and organizations. These sources could also indirectly help Naturism, List of social nudity places in the United States or Female toplessness in the United States. To begin with something, I'd like to have the index to know what pages are needed, but I anything related to the history, organizations and events of this social movement would be helpful.
