Sean Combs
Sean Combs meglio conosciuto con gli pseudonimi Puff Daddy, P.Diddy , Diddy e Puffy (New York, 4 novembre 1969) è un cantante, attore e imprenditore nonché produttore discografico statunitense.
Ha le sue radici nel rap e nell'hip hop. Nel 1993 ha fondato la sua personale compagnia discografica, la Bad Boy Entertainment. La sua fama iniziò ad aumentare negli anni '90 durante la faida East Coast vs. West Coast, in cui i rapper della East Coast - tra i quali lo stesso Puffy, Notorious B.I.G., Mobb Deep e Junior M.A.F.I.A.) - si scontrarono in una violenta lite (o "beef", in termine statunitense), contro i rapper affiliati alla West Coast, tra i quali Tupac Shakur, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg e Suge Knight, membri della Death Row, Snoop Dogg a quei tempi era ancora conosciuto come Snoop Doggy Dogg prima di lasciare la Death Row Records. La faida si concluse nel peggiore dei modi, con le morti di Tupac Shakur,l'amico d'infanzia Yaki Kadafi(19 anni) e Notorious B.I.G. (vero nome Christopher Wallace). Questi due delitti restano tuttora irrisolti nonostante ci siano varie teorie sulle morti dei due rapper. Alcuni pensano che Tupac in realtà abbia finto la sua morte per poi tornare in un secondo momento.
Altri Progetti
Il brano di P. Diddy, Nelly, Murphy Lee "Shake Ya Tailfeather", fu usato come soundtrack per il film "Bad Boys II". P. Diddy ha rilasciato il suo nuovo album intitolato Press Play, dove ci sono molte guest appearances, tra le quali Christina Aguilera, Nicole Scherzinger delle Pussycat Dolls, Big Boi degli OutKast e molti altri. La fama del rapper è anche dovuta al suo aspetto. Infatti secondo alcuni magazines P. Diddy è considerato uno degli artisti r&b più sexy degli ultimi anni insieme all'affascinante Eminem, all'aggressivo e muscoloso 50 Cent, ed al playboy Snoop Dogg.
P. Diddy ha anche partecipato al programma Making The Band 2, un reality show in cui i concorrenti si sfidavano in alcune prove per poter fare parte del gruppo. Durante la durata dello show, Diddy era solito ad imbarazzare i concorrenti, anche con prove surreali. Per esempio in una puntata chiedeva ai concorrenti di andare da Manhattan fino a Brooklyn per prendergli un biscotto. Non è sorprendente quindi se il gruppo si è sciolto dopo breve tempo, anche se alcuni concorrenti si sono accasati ad altre case discografiche.
Più recentemente Puffy ha partecipato come produttore alla terza serie del reality show, andato in onda su MTV intitolato Making The Band 3. Il gruppo, che è composto da cinque donne e che si chiama Danity Kane, ha rilasciato il primo album il 22 di agosto del 2006 ed ha venduto più di 600,000 copie. L'album è stato certificato Gold, ed al momento del debutto in classifica ha scavalcato addirittura Back to basics, l'album di Christina Aguilera.
