Rusty Shoop

Rusty Shoop (1947-48 — August 28, 2024) was a meteorologist for American television station KERO-TV.[1]

Career

Shoop was born in Dallas, Texas. He joined the United States Air Force, ending up in Northern California after his four-year tour of duty. At Humboldt State University he became the weatherman at KIEM-TV in Eureka, California, where his brother, Larry, was the anchorman.[1]

Shoop came to Bakersfield, California in 1984, where he was hired by KERO-TV as a meteorologist. In addition to television, Shoop worked as a truck driver, a small business owner, and an insurance company executive.[1] In 2008, he published a novel titled Blood Harvest.[2]

Personal life

Shoop and his wife, Diane, had four adult children and seven grandchildren.[3]

Health issues and death

After suffering multiple headaches, Shoop underwent emergency surgery at a hospital on January 5, 2007 after tests revealed that an artery in his brain had ruptured.[citation needed]

On August 28, 2024, Shoop died at age 76 of cancer.[3]
