Desmond Mason

Desmond Tremaine Mason (born October 11, 1977 in Waxahachie, Texas) is an American professional basketball player currently playing for the NBA's New Orleans Hornets. He is designated as a swingman, meaning he plays both shooting guard and small forward.

He was drafted out of Oklahoma State University by the Seattle SuperSonics with the 17th pick of the 2000 NBA Draft. In 2003, he and Gary Payton were traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Ray Allen and Ronald "Flip" Murray. On October 26, 2005, he was traded along with a 2006 first-round draft pick to New Orleans in exchange for Jamaal Magloire.

In 2001, he became the first Sonics player in franchise history to win the NBA Slam Dunk Contest.

In addition to his skills on the court, he is an accomplished painter and artist. There is a video on YouTube about the Hornets he rapped about. [citation needed]
