The CENTAUR is a new counter-UAV system developed by the Greek defence firm Hellenic Aerospace Industry. It has been combat-proven in the Red Sea by the Hellenic Navy frigate Psara. [1]
The CENTAUR can detect and jam multiple drones of NATO Class 2 and 3, up to 150Km away.
At just two-million euros per system, the CENTAUR is very cost effective; knocking down enemy drones without any kinetic interceptors and conserving expensive missile stockpiles. One RIM-162 can cost the same amount as one CENTAUR and one frigate can only carry sixteen of these missiles.[2]
For Class 1 drones, the smaller IPERION system can be utilised.
