- You are not correct. This information is also available http://en.wikinoah.org/index.php/United_Noachide_Council%2C_Inc. where it says "the text contained in Wikinoah is licensed to the public under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL)" http://en.wikinoah.org/index.php/English_Wikinoah:Copyrights --Ibn nuh 05:49, 18 May 2007 (UTC) --Ibn nuh 07:38, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
What about the other websites the text is copied from? Also, did the text originate at the licensed source, or was it first posted elsewhere, where it is protected by copyright? --Butseriouslyfolks 07:56, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
- Why did you delete the text after I explained the source was copied from a GFDL source. I used material from that website relying on its GFDL. The text I used is different from the text that you suggest, (I did not even know about it). Are you suggesting that my source is in copyright violation? On what basis do you have to say that?!? bnainoachnews.com and wikinoah.org are run by the same organization! --Ibn nuh 09:06, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
- I will try and clearly label the information as well as ask the author to directly confirm his intention to license the text as GFDL. --Ibn nuh 10:02, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

And so far, the references you claim to show GFDL compliance, in fact, show bupkis. The link above? Blank. The link on the article page which claims GFDL? Great big "Copyright © 2006, All rights reserved" on it. --Calton | Talk 13:59, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
- Chutzpah! There was an assertion of permission made when I submitted the page. A subsequent editor put the assertion at the bottom of the page. This is the SECOND TIME that this page has been flagged with copyright violation!. As far as the "And so far, the references you claim to show GFDL compliance, in fact, show bupkis." It is because wikipedia is dropping the trailing period in the link!!!! Please revert! And clean up my talk page! --Ibn nuh 14:04, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
There was an assertion of permission made when I submitted the page.
- "Because I said so" doesn't cut it. Chutzpah indeed.
A subsequent editor put the assertion at the bottom of the page.
- I'm not even sure what that's supposed to mean, but whatever it is doesn't seem the least bit relevant.
This is the SECOND TIME that this page has been flagged with copyright violation!
- Copyright violations don't magically transform themselves into non-copyright violations if you repeat them.
As far as the "And so far, the references you claim to show GFDL compliance, in fact, show bupkis." It is because wikipedia is dropping the trailing period in the link!!!!
- It's your link, Buckwheat, not Wikipedia's.
Please revert! And clean up my talk page!
- "Nope" and "not my job". There's a procedure for dealing with claims of permission and it's listed twice in the notices above. Please follow them rather than repeating your actions.--Calton | Talk 14:14, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
This is abuse! I clearly said in my submission
- This text is copied from wikinoah and license with GFDL
- (ref)http://en.wikinoah.org/index.php/UNC (/ref)
- (ref)http://en.wikinoah.org/index.php/English_Wikinoah:Copyrights (/ref)
- I followed the procedure.
- I wrote (hangon)
- My links are not blank! --Ibn nuh 14:30, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

The page is United Noachide Council, Inc., with a fullstop on the end. I undeleted it, and then AfD'ed it, to get the above dispute sorted out properly. Anthony Appleyard 15:06, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
Bye
Look what has happened. I submitted a page which is clearly GFDL and said so in my talk page. The page was flagged and deleted. I resubmitted and stated very clearly on the first line that it was GFDL. Someone edited the page and placed that statement on the bottom of the page and the link was not copied correctly. It was flagged. I added (hangon) but it was deleted again. Now anyone looking at my history or talk page with think that I am a copyright violator, because no one will read the talk page carefully. Please restore. --Ibn nuh 14:57, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
- When it's unclear whether an article violates somebody's copyright, we err on the side of caution and delete it. You should not take personal offense — Wikipedia is very serious about copyrights.
- The text on the Wiki which you used as a source appears to have been copied from http://bnainoachnews.com/tiki-read_article.php?articleId=241. This is obviously not your fault, but you have to be careful copying from a wiki source, because anybody can post copyvios to a wiki. It doesn't matter that the wiki is maintained by the same organization as bnainoachnews.com, because an organization can license its wiki under GFDL but retain copyright in its main website.
- In any event, you have the ability to avoid the copyright issue entirely by rewriting the article from scratch in your own words. As we like to say around here, your original contributions are welcome! --Butseriouslyfolks 18:00, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
- It was ALWAYS clear. The link was only because wikipedia was DROPPING THE TRAILING PERIOD. Shortly after I realized that I used the alternative like everywhere including the AfD where I said "please read this". --Ibn nuh 08:23, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- With regard to your note on my talk page, I already have explained myself above and I'm afraid I can't say it any clearer than that. Others have explained it to you as well, I can give you another example: Despite our best efforts, there are plenty of copyvios on Wikipedia. If you reposted one of those elsewhere, it would be just as much as a copyvio as what you did with this article. Unless you can show us a GFDL license on the original website (http://bnainoachnews.com/tiki-read_article.php?articleId=241&comzone=show), we can't allow the text you copied to stand as a WP article.
- How do you know that it was the original website? The link you post is also a forum where anyone could post. That link was posted by a the director "Billy Jack Dial" on April 2006. The text I used was posted in September 2006 with different wording, and longer text also edited by "Billy Jack Dial"! You messed up and don't want to apologize. You did not act in the wikipedia tradition of good faith. So be it. --Ibn nuh 08:23, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- Well, you just explained how I know it was the original website, because it was posted prior to the wiki post. As you demonstrated, the text originally came from the site that does not have a GFDL notice. The fact that someone (even someone claiming to be the same person) posted it later on a wiki site does not mean it is fair game for you to copy. The text is protected by its publication on the first site. --Butseriouslyfolks 09:16, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- It is doubtful that an someone would log into a site belonging to the same organization, which requires registration and approval, and impersonate their director. To what extent does wikipedia have to police other sites copyright?? Besides now that I look at your link, I see that there appears to be NO COPYRIGHT on the bnainoachnews.com website. What you are saying is that wikimedia documents which purport a GDFL are less valid than a FORUM which appears to have no copyright. But even all this, I specifically wrote "hangon, I have asked the author to confirm this information", and still I get abused by both you and Calton. You made a mistake and won't appologize. --Ibn nuh 09:44, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
- Your understanding of copyright law is incorrect. Copyright notices have not been required for about 30 years. Anything that is written is automatically protected by copyright unless the creator clearly releases it. There is no license on the bnainoachnews.com website, so it is not fair game for you to copy.
- As far as impersonation, people impersonate others online all the time. That is why WP has a clear procedure for confirming copyright permissions, which has been explained to you. If you do not wish to follow it, please do not blame me.
- I am confused by your reference to the trailing period. You changed the end of the link from "United_Noachide_Council%2C_Inc." (which included the trailing period you are accusing WP of dropping) to "UNC", and then complained about my failure to review the incorrect link. I don't think that's fair.
- In any event, you are starting to repeat yourself. If you have something new, I'll respond. Otherwise, please know that I understand your position but do not agree with it. --Butseriouslyfolks 17:40, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
