Ante Tomić (Ragusa, 17 febbraio 1987) è un cestista croato, attualmente in forza alla Joventut Badalona, squadra di Liga ACB.

Carriera

Club

KK Zagabria (2004-2010)

Tomić ha iniziato a giocare a basket nel Dubrovnik, sqaudra della sua città natale, firmando poi nel 2004 per il KK Zagabria. Grazie agli anni passati nella squadra della capitale croata, Tomić si è fatto conoscere sia in patria che all'estero. A Zagabria, ha vinto la coppa croata nel 2008, oltre ad essere stato eletto MVP della ABA Liba nel 2009. Nel 2008 è stato anche scelto al draft NBA dagli Utah Jazz, ma il suo futuro era nella Liga Endesa.

Real Madrid (2010-2012)

 
Tomić si appresta a tentare un tiro libero con il Real Madrid nella stagione 2010-11, con Antonio García Ferreras alle spalle.

A gennaio 2010, Tomić firma un contratto triennale con il Real Madrid.[1] Nella sua prima stagione al Real Madrid, il centro croato ha giocato sedici partite della regular season di Liga ACB, chiudendo con 8 punti e 5,4 rimbalzi di media a partita in 348 minuti giocati, aumentando i suoi numeri nelle otto partite di play-off giocati, grazie ai 9,5 punti e 5,9 rimbalzi. Nella stessa stagione, le sue cifre in Euroleague sono state simili, ultimando la manifestazione con 11 punti, 3,6 rimbalzi e 1,7 palle rubate a partita.

Nella stagione 2010-2011 di ACB, Tomić ha giocato 32 partite con una media di 10 punti e quattro rimbalzi a partita in 613 minuti di gioco. Barcelona (2012-2020)

On 5 July 2012, Tomić signed with Barça Regal for three seasons, with an option for one more. In the Euroleague 2012–13 season, he was named to the All-EuroLeague First Team,[4] and in the 2012–13 ACB season, he was included to the All-Liga ACB Team.[5]

In March 2014, Tomić became the first player ever to receive the EuroLeague MVP of the Month award twice in a row, and even twice in the same season.[6] In May 2014, he was named to the All-EuroLeague First Team, for the second year in a row.[7]

On 27 April 2015, he agreed to a new tentative three-year deal with Barcelona.[8] In May 2015, he was chosen to the All-EuroLeague Second Team for his performances over the season.[9] Statistically, he had his best season since joining Barcelona, averaging 11.5 points, and career-highs of 7.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game, over 28 games played in the EuroLeague.

On 16 June 2015, he signed a three-year contract extension with Barcelona.[10] Barcelona eventually finished the season losing in the final series of the Spanish League championship, after a 3–0 series sweep loss to Real Madrid.[11] In June 2018 he resigned with Barcelona[12] which was reported to be a two-year deal.[13] On 2 July 2020, Tomić announced on his Instagram account that he was parting ways with the club after eight seasons.[14]

Joventut (2020-oggi)

NBA

Tomić è stato scelto al draft del 2008 con la 44esima chiamata dagli Utah Jazz.[17]

On 18 November 2020, his draft rights were traded to the New York Knicks.[18] On February 9, 2023, Tomić's draft rights were traded to the Portland Trail Blazers in a four-team trade involving the Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers and Charlotte Hornets.[19]

Nazionale

Tomić played with Croatia, at both the junior and senior levels of competition. In 2009, he won the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games in Pescara, Italy, and as a full international, he appeared in numerous competitions in which the senior Croatian national team qualified. He competed at the World Championship in Turkey, in 2010, at the EuroBasket in Lithuania, in 2011, and at the EuroBasket in Slovenia, in 2013. He also played at the 2014 FIBA World Cup, in Spain. After representing Croatia at the EuroBasket 2015,[20] where they were eliminated in the eighth finals by the Czech Republic,[21] he announced his retirement from national team competitions.
