Steven was born in 1940 in New Jersey with cerebral palsy. His gift for art became apparent when at the age of six he demonstrated a great joy of drawing and painting among the artists of Provincetown, Massachusetts.
At age 15, Steven studied with Hans Hofmann, founder of Abstract Expressionism. Steven graduated from Swarthmore College, attended Bard College, University of Madrid, Instituto San Miguel de Allende, Mexico City College and the Art Students League of New York. He received many honors and awards during his travels and has been included in 18 American and International “Who’s Who” editions. His art has been recognized and enjoyed in museums, galleries, exhibitions and collections worldwide.
Steven is a man of great intellect. He navigates creatively among a variety of languages and composes poetry and prose which he has also translated into several languages. His interests include politics, literature, psychology, metaphysics and philosophy.
In 1994, Steven began transforming his lifelong dream of composing music into reality with new technology and the assistance of a fellow composer and educator, Robert Prakash Rai. Steven is actively composing and recording new music for the world. His current explorations include tone color, improvisation and the fusion of poetry with liturgy.
Above all, Steven is a man of deep passion--- a passion that is expressed in all of his artistic endeavors.
