Septimus Heap is a series of five books written by Angie Sage, featuring a protagonist with the same name as the series, Septimus Heap. Three books have been published. The books are called "Magyk", "Flyte", and "Physik".

The Novels

Magyk

The first book is entitled Magyk. The main plot revolves around the pauper-like Heap family. The parents, Silas and Sarah, have seven children. Simon is the eldest son, whose ambition is to be the ExtraOrdinary wizard. The other Heap children (from eldest to youngest) are Sam, twins Erik and Edd, Jo-Jo, Nicko, and Jenna whom Silas Heap found in the snow on the day that the youngest, Septimus, was born and supposedly died. The story centers around Jenna, a girl who is really a princess but is passed off as the Heap's youngest daughter. On her tenth birthday, it is revealed she is actually a princess and she is being tracked down by an evil Hunter. The evil Hunter is working for a Necromancer named DomDaniel, who is an ex-ExtraOrdinary Wizard. As the plot thickens, they encounter a Young Army boy, Boy 412, who refuses to talk and who eventually becomes a hero and discovers that he is the long-lost Septimus Heap.

Flyte

In the second book, Flyte, Simon is working for DomDaniel (who is in Skeleton form). Simon Heap kidnaps Jenna and brings her to his observatory, but she escapes and returns to the port. Septimus and Nicko are the only ones to go looking for her, and they are told by the Witch Mother where they can find her. When they reach the Port they find Jenna, and the plot proceeds, finishing with Simon accepting Septimus as his brother. Jenna's life also has another surprise in the form a forgotten relative.

There is an edition of this book which contains a CD for a computer. This CD contains dragon-hatching information, information about the author (Angie Sage), letters to and from Aunt Zelda, a game in which the player must capture Sleuth, and more.

Physik

The third book is named Physik and was released in March 2007. The author hinted at her Naperville, Illinois author signing that it will have something to do with water, and some have speculated that this may mean a sea voyage. Physik starts off w/ Silas Heap and Gringe the Gatekeeper unSealing a room and unleashing the spirit of an evil queen from 500 yrs. earlier. A new character, Snorri Snorrelsson, a Northern Trader, is introduced early in the novel but does not become central to the plot until later in the book. The evil queen, Etheldredda, rescues Septimus after he almost drowns but then tells Jenna unless he looks in a certain mirror he will die. Septimus is pulled through the mirror into another Time and becomes apprentice to the last Alchemist, Marcellus Pye, who knows alot about Physik. Jenna tries to rescue Septimus and succeeds but Snorri and Nicko are left behind 500 years earlier.

Back of Books/Front Flap

Magyk

The seventh son of the Seventh Son, aptly named Septimus Heap,is stolen the night he is born by a midwife who pronounces him dead. That same night, the baby's father Silas Heap, comes across a bundle in the snow containing a newborn girl with violet eyes. The Heaps take the helpless newborn into their home, name her Jenna, and raise her as their own. But who is this mysterious baby and what really happened to their beloved son Septimus?

Flyte

It's been a year since Septimus Heap discovered his real family and true calling to be a wizard. As Apprentice to ExtraOrdinary Wizard Marcia Overstand, he is learning the fine arts of Conjurations, Charms, and other Magyk, while Jenna is adapting to life as the Princess and enjoying the freedom of the Castle. But there is somthing sinister at work. Marcia is constantly trailed by a menacing Darke Shadow, and Septimus's brother Simon seems bent on a revenge no one understands. Why is the Darke Magyk still lingering? Bringing fantasy to new heights, Angie Sage continues the journey of Septimus Heap with her trademark humor and all of the clever details readers have come to love.

Physik

When Silas Heap unSeals a forgotten room in the Palace, he releases the ghost of a Queen who lived five hundred years earlier. Queen Etheldredda is as awful in death as she was in life, and she's still up to no good. Her diabolical plan to give herself everlasting life requires Jenna's compliance, Septimus's disappearance, and the talents of her son, Marcellus Pye, a famous Alchemist and Physician. And if Queen Etheldredda's plot involves Jenna and Septimus, then it will surely involve Nicko, Alther Mella, Marcia Overstrand, Beetle, Stanley, Sarah, Silas, Spit Fyre, Aunt Zelda, and all of the other wacky, wonderful characters that made magyk and flyte so memorable.

With heart-stopping action and a dash of humor, Angie Sage continues the fantastical journey of Septimus Heap.

Charms

In this book trilogy charms are small items on which spells are imprinted. They may range from ornate silver and gold medallions to bits of toast.
