Was married to Winifred

They had three sons and a daughter. His three sons are ministers with the Uniting Church in Australia.

Superintendant of the Methodist, and later Uniting Church, Wesley Mission, Pitt Street, Sydney in the period 1958-1978.

Involved in formation of the World Council of Churches and one of the founders of Lifeline.

The Alan Walker College of Evangelism in Sydney was named in honour of his contribution to Christian missions.
