Stagione

Quella del 2024-2025 è stata la 78ª stagione della franchigia, la 77ª nella NBA, nonché la loro 36ª stagione a Minneapolis e la 35ª al Target Center. Questa stagione è stata anche la prima dalla stagione 2014-15 senza Karl-Anthony Towns nel roster, poiché è stato ceduto ai New York Knicks in uno scambio a tre squadre per Julius Randle, la guardia Donte DiVincenzo, l'ala grande Keita Bates-Diop e una futura scelta al primo giro tramite gli Charlotte Hornets.

Il 13 aprile, i Timberwolves si sono aggiudicati il loro quarto posto consecutivo ai playoff dopo la vittoria contro gli Utah Jazz. Essendo la sesta classificata della Western Conference, erano sfavoriti contro i Los Angeles Lakers, terzi classificati della Conference, al primo turno, ma hanno finito per sorprendere i californiani in cinque partite, segnando la prima volta nella storia della franchigia ad aver vinto un turno di playoff per stagioni consecutive. Successivamente hanno sconfitto i Golden State Warriors, settimi classificati, in cinque partite, la loro prima vittoria casalinga in una serie di playoff dal 2004. Con la vittoria della semifinale di Conference, i Timberwolves hanno giocato le finali della Western Conference per il secondo anno consecutivo, ma hanno perso contro i futuri campioni della NBA, ovvero gli Oklahoma City Thunder, in cinque partite, ancora una volta per il secondo anno consecutivo, negando loro la loro prima apparizione alle finali NBA.
