David Wilshire

David Wilshire (born 16 September 1943) is a politician in the United Kingdom. He is Member of Parliament for Spelthorne in Surrey, and was first elected in the 1987 general election. He is a member of the Conservative Party.

In 1987 he introduced Section 28 as an amendment to the Local Government Bill. The amendment made it illegal for local authorities to "promote homosexuality or ... promote the teaching in any maintained school of the acceptability of homosexuality."
