A number of villages in northeastern France were destroyed during WWI and never rebuilt:

(this list is probably not exhaustive).

Oradour-sur-Glane was destroyed by Nazi Germany during WWII and its population massacred. It was kept as a testimony to the deaths and not rebuilt, a new village was built a bit further away.
