Heart Mountain is located in the Bow River valley just south of Exshaw, Alberta. The peak was named in 1957 for the heart shaped layer of limestone near the top.

The mountain is an easy scramble from Heart Creek and is usually one of the first peaks that can be climbed after the spring snow melt. A circuit route can be completed by following the ridge line as it circles left and then descends to Quartzite Creek.
