Lin Chaoying, whose martial arts skills were unparalled and compatible with other great martial artists, met Wang Chong Yang earlier in her life and they were very close to each other, they even exchanged correspondence while Wang Chongyang was in war with the Jurchens. It was she who drew Wang Chong Yang out from his seclusion and confronted him with severe scoldings.
Thereon, both of them roamed the realm of martial arts in pair and would often train martial arts together and develop their martial arts to a higher level. Both fell in love with each other, unfortunately their prides got in their way. Lin Chaoying would often indirectly show hints of love towards Wang Chongyang, but he pretended and refused her. Because of this, Lin Chaoying thought Wang Chongyang looked down upon her and was angered. Soon, a series of duels between them was proposed and arranged by Lin to end this endless debate. For some reasons, Lin won the duel. Wang obliged and surrendered his ancient tomb, the tomb which he called The Tomb of Living Dead, to her.
Soon after she entered the tomb with a nameless young maid, who later become her first deciple, she scouted the tomb and discovered a strangely built stone chamber where Wang had carved a set of unmatched martial arts. To counter with Wang's, she designed and created a new complete set of female targeted martial arts techniques which she named Jade Maiden Scriptures. However, the techniques were never put into good practice and was never fully completed because they required another partner to be in-synced during the process when one of them died.
Decades later, Lin Chaoying passed away in grief. Along with other great defensive techniques and skills she acquired during her lifetime and a strict rule, she passed on all the techniques as part of the syllabus to her deciple who in turn taught them to her two recruited deciples, Li Mochou and Xiaolongnü — the heiress-to-be of Gumu sect. The nameless young maid later brought in an old servant named Grandma Sun to take care of her deciples and in charge of the tomb's households.
