A veteran practitioner of Russian Sambo, Oleg is most remembered for his unflinching calmness during all aspects of fighting. His unemotional response to all attacks would rattle opponents. His vicious submissions usually sealed the deal. Though a marvel to watch, Oleg could often stall against later opponents who utilized sprawl, etc. to dislocate from the ground game and stay toe-to-toe.
His fights with Tank Abbott and Dan Severn are legendary. Oleg won against Tank, but could not stand when it ended. He lost to Severn in what was then the bloodiest fight UFC had seen.
