Clean up
editThe principle behind this is correct and it is definitely not the same as Mediterranean Sea, which is a geography article primarily about the sea itself. There is a distinct socio-economic context here that is as valid as Northern Europe or Sub-Saharan Africa. Unfortunately the article needs a rather heavy rewrite to get it off its soap-box and make it NPOV. But then, lots of Wiki articles started that way. --Red King 7 July 2005 14:32 (UTC)

My edit
editThe old version was horribly POV and just talked about problems of countries in the region. Not problems relating to the region exactly (except the Balkans). I deleted it all (wise or unwise I don't know... ) and am not sure how to write about unifying problems? Probably Mediterranean pollution, trade across the sea, etc. But, what was there before was bad... I already made the unilateral change, and it can always be undone, but I don't think that article was a good starting point at all. gren 07:10, 16 July 2005 (UTC)
- I would have waited for new content, before torching the old stuff. But, anyway, I wander if we can agree that new content should focus specifically on the coastal region. There's little point of rehashing stuff about each country, that happens to touch the Mediterranean. That stuff belongs in each country's own article. And this isn't about the history of the larger region, as that's handled well in a seperate article. Another article actually handles the sea itself. I think this does a good job identifying the relevant region. To avoid future mass-deletes, I would like to see some agreement about what should be here, before more time is invested by anybody. --rob 17:47, 16 July 2005 (UTC)
