Let's find the world's cultural heritage institutionsWelcome to FindingGLAMs, a project to improve the coverage of GLAM institutions (galleries, libraries, archives and museums) on Wikipedia and its sister project, Wikidata. We are working together to put cultural heritage institutions around the world on the map. In many countries, information about cultural heritage institutions is inadequate; even when official databases exist, they can be out-of-date, hard to access or in a limited number of languages. By making a contribution to this project, you help us spread free knowledge to people all around the world. |

Improve existing dataA lot of the data in Wikidata comes from datasets published by official organizations. But even when such data is available for import, it's often not perfect. It could be out of date, missing relevant pieces of information, or even contain errors. That's why the work Wikidata volunteers do every day, cleaning up and enriching the data, is invaluable – and that's why we're looking forward to you joining us! |

Easier editing with MonumentalWe know that the interface and underlying structure of Wikidata can take a while to feel comfortable with, which presents a high barrier to entry for beginners. That's why we're developing Monumental – a visual, GLAM-focused tool for browsing and editing Wikidata items. With Monumental, finding, examining and editing Wikidata items is as easy as falling off a log. We don't think you should have to read up on Wikidata in order to make your first contributions! |

Spread knowledge via the Wikimedia projectsWikipedia is one of the most used educational resources in the world, it is available in over 300 languages and receives 15 billion page views per month from 500 million people. It has become an important part of many people's education. The goal of Wikidata is to collect the sum of human knowledge, which can be accessed, used and improved by everyone, for free. Wikidata is a free and open database of structured data and contains information about millions of things around the world – from lakes to books to museums. |

FindingGLAMs in SwedenWe started the campaign with encouraging librarians in Sweden to edit data about their libraries. It was a valuable addition to the database of libraries maintained by the National Library of Sweden, which served as a base for many items on Wikidata. It was a valuable test case for how crowdsourcing can be used to enhance data imported from official sources. We're looking forward to expanding it to the rest of the world! |
