Arthur Andersen LLP v. United States was a United States Supreme Court case .

The case in the lower courts initially resulted in accounting firm Arthur Andersen's conviction on an obstruction count. On May 31, 2005, the Supreme Court of the United States unanimously overturned that conviction, citing concerns about the trial court's instructions to jurors. Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist wrote the opinion.
