If Ed Poor has something to say to me he can post a message on my Talk page just as everyone else does. That is both the established convention here and common courtesy. Adam 06:57, 22 July 2005 (UTC)
Help desk
Hi Cyrius.
Do be careful not to bite the newbies when you're on the Help Desk. If you're going to get annoyed by silly questions, it's probably best to stay away entirely. To take the Esperanto question as an example, you might be better off phrasing your future replies as suggestions ("Try asking over at Wikipedia talk:Babel") rather than insinuations of incompetence ("Why didn't you try Wikipedia talk:Babel?") Implying that the editor in question is "silly" for not knowing to ask on the talk page there, or being unfamiliar with how policies, templates, and wikiprojects are created is also a tad harsh.
The editor in question did do the right thing—he wasn't sure how to go about something, and he asked for help at the Help Desk. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 16:44, 28 July 2005 (UTC)
- No worries, just try to use a light hand at the Help Desk. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 18:23, 28 July 2005 (UTC)
Current drafts
What do you think of the two drafts I have at User:Golbez/sandbox? The colors still need some fiddling with. I was working with Draft 4 (w/o names) until I realized how iffy that got in pre-1978 lists, so I tried out Draft 5 with names, and it looks like it could be useful. Any comments? And does this appear to be at all useful? --Golbez 22:22, July 29, 2005 (UTC)
- And now the link works. :P --Golbez 05:37, July 30, 2005 (UTC)

Hurricane season article updates
I've been updating your user page on the sentence where it says: 'Wikipedia has a little something on every season back to ____' so that it displays the latest year. You're okay with that, right?

Thanks for the tips, I'll check the histories henceforth. Cheers! -- BDAbramson talk 15:00, August 7, 2005 (UTC)
Signpost spam
My apologies for the impersonal message, but you are one of a number of people who figure in recent events surrounding the deletion of VfD, a story about which will be in the upcoming The Wikipedia Signpost. A draft of the story is at User:Michael Snow/Deletion deletion. Please feel free to review it and point out any inaccuracies or misrepresentations you find. I would ask that rather than editing the story directly, if you could please direct any comments to the talk page. Thank you. --Michael Snow 23:33, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
ASINs
Hi, Cyrius. Sorry to bother you if you don't care about this...
You commented on the little WP:VIP fracas I had over deleting ASINs; I'm trying to start a discussion about this. If you have any particular opinions about it, could you note them at User:Shimgray/ASIN? I'm hoping the community can figure out what to do about this. Thanks, Shimgray 01:20, 9 August 2005 (UTC)
Vandalism
Hi Cyrius, just wanted to report ome vandalism going on at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Ancient empires and their roles. Someone changing delete votes to keep votes. Thanks! Hamster Sandwich 21:16, 9 August 2005 (UTC)
Texas template
I appologize ahead for clogging up your talk page with this.
Recently, User:Ed g2s keeps on changing the Texas template to a plain version and won't explain why. I need you guys to support me to keep the Texas template that has been active.
This is the Texas template that has been active, before that user erased it, see below:
This is the template that User:Ed g2s (that he made) and has been reverting to, see below:
State of Texas | |
---|---|
Capital: | Austin |
Regions: |
Arklatex | Big Bend | Central Texas | Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex | East Texas | Edwards Plateau | Greater Houston | North Texas | Northeast Texas | Piney Woods | Rio Grande Valley | Texas Hill Country | Texas Panhandle | Llano Estacado | Southeast Texas | South Texas | West Texas |
Metropolitan areas: |
Abilene | Amarillo | Austin–Round Rock | Beaumont–Port Arthur | Brownsville–Harlingen | College Station–Bryan | Corpus Christi | Dallas–Plano–Irving | El Paso | Fort Worth–Arlington | Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown | Killeen–Temple | Laredo | Longview–Marshall | Lubbock | McAllen–Edinburg–Mission | Midland | Odessa | San Angelo | San Antonio | Sherman–Denison | Texarkana | Tyler | Victoria | Waco | Wichita Falls |
I want you guys to have some input and decide which one is best for Texas. Like I said, I support the colorful template, but Ed g2s has been reverting it without explaination and has threatened to block me if I revert again to the colorful one. I think the colorful one is more aesthetic looking. Ed g2s doesn't seem to think so and keeps on erasing it to a plain version. Also, he's not even from Texas, he's from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Let's have a vote on this on Template talk:Texas. Thank you for everyone's time. – UH Collegian 19:40, 10 August 2005 (UTC)
