Gregory Allen Yankey was born in Joliet, Illinois.
Educational Experiences
Greg was raised in the Joliet Public School District 86, and attended Joliet West High School graduating in 1984. While in high school Greg was involved in choral music. He was in the Joliet West Madrigals and Swing Choir his junior year, and was a chorus member in three high school musical productions, playing a supporting role as Sir Sagramore his senior year in the musical Camelot. He went on a 1983 concert tour of The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland with the Joliet West Choir. Greg attended high school with current celebrities John Barrowman (a star of the London stage) and Andy Dick of News Radio and Less Than Perfect fame.
Greg aspired to a teaching career, so in 1984 he began attending Joliet Junior College where he graduated in 1986. That year Greg transfered to Illinois State University. Greg did his student teaching at Lincolnway East Community High School in Frankfort, Illinois in the fall of 1988, and was certified to teach grades 6-12 in social studies and history in 1989.
