Edge detection

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by 169.207.90.17 (talk) at 07:42, 30 September 2003 (It's not just high-pass filtering.). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Edges are considered to be the high frequency regions of an image. so edge detection is nothing but an high pass filtering, in the trivial case of 1-dimensional objects.

In 2-dimensions, and higher, the concept of a projection has to be considered.

See, for example, the work of Sobel.
