From the Bottom of My Heart will be a specially released single from Michael Jackson and various artists. To be released in 2005, the single will be dedicated to the victims of Hurricane Katrina, and is the third major all-star charity single headed by Jackson. (The other two were "We Are the World" and "What More Can I Give?"). Several stars have been apparently listed to help record the song which include, but are not limited to Jay-Z, Mariah Carey, Missy Elliott, R. Kelly, Wyclef Jean, Lenny Kravitz, Lauryn Hill, Mary J. Blige, Yolanda Adams, Babyface, James Brown, Snoop Dogg, The O'Jays, and Ciara. Some artists have confirmed their participation, however, not all stars have confirmed their role yet, and Jay-Z has stated that he is still in negotiations.
The single, intended to be recorded soon, will be released through Seas Records, owned by Prince Abdulla Hamad Alkhalifa of Bahrain. Some critics have noted that no American label would get involved due to Jackson's recent scandals, thus the need for a non-USA record label. However, Island Def Jam have stated they are very interested in signing Michael Jackson, and Sony BMG have also stated they would be willing to resign a contract with Jackson. The reason Jackson is releasing the single through 2 Seas Records, is because they do alot of charity work and Michael's brother, Jermaine has been involved with the label for several years.
