Breking Point è un evento promosso dalla WWE che sostiutuisce il PPV Unforgiven. La particolarità del'evento è quella di proporre esclusivamente Submission Match, vale a dire Match dove si può vincere solo con prese di sottomissione. Nel PPV vengono coinvolti i Wrestler di Raw, SmackDown! e ECW
Introduzione all'evento
A WWE SummerSlam 2009, John Cena ha perso il match valido per il WWE Championship detenuto da Randy Orton dopo un finale piuttosto controverso. Infatti il match era ripartito per tre volte viste le scorrettezze di Orton, ma alla fine è riuscita a spuntarla grazie all'intervento di Brett DiBiase. Vince McMahon ha quindi indetto un rivincità per Cena in un I Quit Match, dove se qualcuno dovesse intervenire in favore di Orton, quest'ultimo perderà il titolo.
CM Punk, a SummerSlam 2009, ha conquistato il suo terzo World Heavyweight Championship ai danni di Jeff Hardy in un TLC Match. Ma dopo la vittoria, Undertaker ha attaccato il neo-campione facendo capire al WWE Universe di voler arrivare al titolo. Nela puntata di SmackDown! post Summerslam, CM Punk ha confitto Jeff Hardy in uno Steel Cage Match, costringendolo poi a lasciare la WWE. CM Punk dovrà quindi affrontare il Becchino in un Submission Match valido per il titolo mondiale.
