PODC, the ACM Symposium on Principles of Distributed Computing, is an academic conference in the field of distributed computing. PODC is organised annually, and it is sponsored by the Association for Computing Machinery special interest groups SIGACT and SIGOPS.[1]
PODC is often mentioned to be one of the top conferences in the field of distributed computing.[2][3][4] In the 2007 Australian Ranking of ICT Conferences, PODC was the only conference in the field that received the highest ranking, "A+".[5]
The Edsger W. Dijkstra Prize in Distributed Computing is presented alternately at PODC and at the International Symposium on Distributed Computing (DISC).[6][7][8]
History
PODC was first organised on 18–20 August 1982, in Ottawa, Canada.[9]
In 2009, 28th PODC will be held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.[10] PODC 2009 is co-located with the ACM Symposium on Parallelism in Algorithms and Architectures (SPAA).
